Amperslash 2025

Thank you for creating something for me! My username is [archiveofourown.org profile] forsworn. I requested fic or art in three fandoms. Treats are welcome! For my DNDHAT and Trek requests, the pairs are ones I enjoy as both & and /, so feel free to lean towards either of those, or both - or for it to be ambiguous, where it's not clear what they're feeling or the characters aren't sure what they're feeling. For Little Women, I'm looking for things at the intimately platonic, queerplatonic, or ambiguous end of the scale, with unrequited romance or complicated feelings. For all my requests, I'm hoping for something emotionally intense where they're really important to each other.

Even if you're going for &, I'm happy for it to involve cheek kisses, forehead kisses, handholding, extended cuddling, and other displays of physical affection/comfort that make people go I Can't Believe It's Not Romantic. Maximum smarm welcome! For the requests where I didn't DNW smut, I'm happy with sexual or sexually charged situations - especially sex pollen/omegaverse heats/fuck or die, where they might not have been hoping to have sex but now they're going to look after each other - or where they resist having sex, teetering on the edge of physical intimacy (maybe even blurring the lines) as they give comfort.

Navigation: DNWs | General Likes | Art Likes | Art DNWs | Hurt/Comfort Likes | Smut Likes
DNDHAT: Doric and Xenk | Edgin and Doric | Simon and Edgin | Simon and Xenk
Little Women (Gerwig): Laurie and Jo
Star Trek AOS: Kirk and Pike

DNWs:
  • 1st or 2nd person POV
  • Cheating
  • Breakups
  • Noncon
  • Major character death
  • Gore
  • Vore
  • Bestiality, sex while in animal form
  • Scat, watersports, vomit in a sexual context (non-sexual vomiting is fine)
  • Underage sex (18+ only)
  • Canon characters explicitly depicted as aromantic or asexual
  • For DNDHAT: Edgin/Holga, Kira/anyone. Past Holga/Marlamin is fine; past Edgin/Zia is fine.
  • For Little Women: Laurie and Jo having sex; an AU where Amy/Laurie explicitly do not get together (fine to leave it as an implied future/not mention that ship at all); canon character deaths are fine; Jo being aroace is fine; Jo not getting together with Bhaer is fine

General Likes:
  • Fluff. Domestic fluff. Hopeful spring vibes. Cosy autumn or winter vibes. Rainy evenings in. Lazy sunny mornings. Cooking together, eating together. Playing board games. The daily routines of travelling together longterm.
  • Banter. Found family. Characters showing affection in their own way. Groups amusing themselves with jokes and stories while spending every day together. Characters trusting in each other's skills.
  • Cheek touches. Hand on the back of the neck. Hugs and cuddling. Cheek kisses. Forehead kisses. Holding hands.
  • Angst with a happy ending. Hurt/comfort. Complicated pining. Repression and self-denial. Intense sense of duty or loyalty. Complicated family legacies. Self-esteem issues.
  • Dreams and nightmares. Shared dreams. Prophetic dreams, dreams of future soulmate. Nightmares of past trauma.
  • Truth spells. Telepathic bonds. Soulbonds, accidental or deliberate. Magical tattoos that show connections: soulmate marks, pistilverse, etc.
  • Kidfic, of the canon character being de-aged type. Accidentally turned into an animal: being soothed with strokes, being taken care of, dealing with the soft intimacy they indulged in while transformed once returned to human. Canonical shapeshifters showing affection in animal form, eg curling up on lap as a cat, purring, etc.
  • Forced proximity: stuck in a prison cell together, only one bed, trapped by a cave-in, hiding in a closet, handcuffed together, magic spell, etc.
  • Sparring and combat tutoring. Character A defending character B with character B's weapon.

Art Likes:
  • I enjoy a wide variety of styles: fully rendered paintings, clean lineart, loose sketchy lines, Disney, American comics, anime, chibi, art nouveau, stained glass...
  • Also enjoy most mediums: digital, pencil, ink, markers, watercolours, gouache, charcoal...
  • And lots of colour palettes: realistic colours, bright colours, pastel colours, monochrome, monochrome plus a splash of colour, earthy tones...
  • Any rating, from G to Explicit.
  • All of which amounts to: show me your style! Create what you're inspired to create, in the style that feels natural to you.

Art DNWs:
  • This is technically already covered by the "sex while in animal form" DNW above, but to be specific about how it applies to art: no furry/anthro porn please. (But non-porn furry/anthro is welcome!)

Hurt/Comfort Likes:
  • Emotional hurt/comfort. Physical hurt/comfort. Whump. Mild hurt/comfort.
  • Nightmares. Flashbacks. Crying. Staying with character B as they fall asleep.
  • Impact bruises. Being manually choked. Twisted ankles.
  • Stab wounds. Arrow wounds. Pulling the arrow out. Nosebleeds as fight injury. Grazes and abrasions.
  • Magical torture, psychic torture, and other kinds of pain inflicted without harming the body.
  • Bedside vigils. Holding injured character close. Carrying or supporting someone who can't walk. Character A catching character B as they collapse (even if character A isn't strong enough to hold them up and just helps slow their descent to the floor). Helping injured character undress, remove armour, etc.
  • Seasickness. "Oh no, that thing you just ate was poisoned." Vomiting in the context of hurt/comfort - the loss of control, the pain of throwing up, the vulnerability of being seen that way - whether due to nausea, induced by emetic, or induced by fingers (theirs or partner's). Not interested in the vomit itself, though fine to mention it looks/smells/tastes gross.
  • Struggling through sex pollen/an omegaverse heat/etc without having sex, only giving non-sexual comfort for the symptoms.
  • The awkward vulnerability of comfort requiring a new level of intimacy.
  • Stern/gruff characters making tiny gestures as a comforter and the comfortee understanding that significance. A comforter understanding when the comfortee only wants tiny gestures, and the comfortee being grateful for that understanding. People who are comfortable with each other giving and accepting large amounts of comfort.
  • Stoic hurt characters refusing to break down. Stoic hurt characters letting it all out.
  • I love both the hurt and comfort parts of the equation! Go heavy on one part and less on the other, or have an equal mix of both.

Smut Likes:
  • Positions: Missionary, riding and other face-to-face positions, for eye contact and/or lots of kissing. But spooning pairs well with gentle sex, and oral fingering's probably more easily done from behind.
  • Locations: In bed, in a chair, against a wall, on the floor... In the bedroom, in the living room, in an alley, in a forest, in a dungeon, on a ship, on the victorious battlefield... Basically anywhere? Yeah.
  • Acts: Anal sex, including het anal. Vaginal sex. Loss of virginity. First time bottoming. Pegging. Strap-ons. Deepthroating. Oral fingering. Kissing during sex. Breastplay (fondling, gently squeezing, kissing). Nippleplay (pinching, kissing, licking).
  • Moods: Gentle sex. Tender sex. Fluffy sex. Hurt/comfort sex. Sex with lots of feelings. Vulnerability and trust.
  • BDSM: Dom/sub. Bondage. Pinned down. Kneeling. Collaring. Praise kink. Orgasm delay/edging. BDSM AUs.
  • Dubcon: Sex pollen. Fuck or die. Sex caused by magic or to perform magic. Pining during dubcon. (Whether they admit their feelings during, after, or not at all.) Having to trust each other with the unexpected intimacy. Worrying about being so vulnerable but being kind to each other and coming out stronger on the other side.
  • Size kink and stretching: Big cocks. Painful penetration. Lots of foreplay/prep, slow and gentle penetration so it isn't painful. Large object insertions. Sounding.
  • Omegaverse: Alpha/Omega. Painfully big alpha dicks. Knotting. Sexy pheromones. Pheromones that communicate fear, or anger, or other emotions. Alpha pheromones that make the omega feel safe, or protected, or calm.
  • An undercover situation requires them to fuck while being watched, but they successfully fake it - except the kisses, the touches, the proximity, and the "is it okay if I..." questions whispered right in each other's ears were all very real. And some of those moans didn't sound fake. Either they're so wound up they fuck for real once they're no longer being watched, or the feelings keep simmering until they boil over later.

Doric and Xenk Yendar

Doric is very blunt and speaks her mind, but that doesn't mean she can't be confused about her feelings. Xenk is so kind, so brave, so protective, but he struggles with social interaction - I can see him finding it hard to express his feelings, maybe even hard to categorise his own feelings. These two are both visibly outsiders, and maybe that shared experience would lead them to form an intense bond, understanding each other deeply but maybe not understanding what that bond is. After so much trauma, maybe they're just happy to find someone who sees them as they really are - and cares about them.

I enjoy these two as both fully & and fully / or anywhere in between - I'd love to see something platonic and intense, something ambiguously romantic or sexual, or something sexual but ambiguously romantic. Maybe a quest together or some strange magic pushes them into a scenario where they have to rely on each other for support or comfort. (If they end up blurring - or outright crossing - the lines of sexual or romantic attraction, please don't mention Simon and Doric breaking up. Please either ignore that ship or give them an open relationship.)

Narrative Prompts
  • One of them gets injured, and Xenk can't heal them because spell slots/anti-magic cuffs/reasons. The other gently comforts them - holding them close, rubbing their back, whispering soft words, kissing their cheek or forehead, etc.
  • Or Doric gets injured in an intimate area (groin, upper thigh, breast, etc) and Xenk needs to physically touch the wound to heal her. Or Xenk's the one with an injury in an intimate place, and can't heal himself, so Doric has to apply some healing herbs.
  • Due to injury or illness, Doric collapses - and Xenk catches her before she hits the ground, arms pulling her close, thoroughly concerned. Or maybe she only wobbles, and he has to help her walk, pressing close together.
  • There Was Only One Bed... and it's a small bed. Maybe Xenk would try to be chivalrous and sleep on the floor so Doric can have the bed, but she's just practical about it and insists they can share?
  • One of them has a nightmare - while sharing a bed, or while the other one is on watch in camp, etc - and the other comforts them, with physical affection and/or with an openly emotional conversation.
  • A magical artifact or a misfired spell accidentally creates a soulbond between them, and now they can hear each other's thoughts/feel each other's feelings/have to stay close to each other/all of the above. How do they deal with this unexpected level of intimacy? Is the new status of their relationship something they can even put into words - or do they want/need to, with such a deep understanding between them? What happens if they manage to break the bond?
  • They get snowed into a cabin/trapped in a cold cave/fall into a river and need to huddle for warmth. But they can't get proper transfer of body heat unless they take their clothes off.
  • While undercover as a couple, they're pushed into a situation where they're expected to have sex (e.g. selected for a ritual) and decide to try and fake it. But the intimacy of those touches, whispered requests for permission, being mostly naked, and the physical simulation of thrusting is very real, leading to a confusingly ambiguous experience.
  • One or both of them gets hit by cuddle pollen or kissing pollen, and the other insists on helping with the cure, crossing lines they've never crossed together before.
  • Or maybe it's sex pollen, and they try to give comfort while resisting the urges - but maybe desperation leads them to touching themselves or rubbing against a thigh, blurring the lines between a private sexual experience and a shared one. Or maybe they decide to (or have to, because it'll be fatal otherwise) have sex, despite no previous desire to do so, and have to rely on their trust and friendship in the intimate situation. (I headcanon them both as virgins, if you want to make the act even more new and strange for them.)
  • Maybe omega Doric goes into heat, and alpha Xenk gently looks after her - holding her close so she can smell his scent, holding the back of her neck to calm her, maybe even kissing her for better delivery of calming pheromones. They successfully resist the urge to have sex, teetering on the boundary - but maybe Xenk has to look the other way as Doric fingers herself to take the edge off.

Visual Prompts
  • One of them is upset or injured; the other cuddles them, kisses their cheek or forehead, rubs their back, etc.
  • Huddling for warmth, completely abandoning personal space as they snuggle close, wrapped in a blanket.
  • Or snuggling up in a tiny bed together.
  • Doric's injured in an intimate area (groin, upper thigh, breast) and Xenk touches the wound to heal her. Or Xenk has an injury in an intimate place, and Doric touches the wound to apply some healing herbs.
  • Xenk catches Doric as she collapses, holding her close, face full of concern.
  • Xenk helping Doric to walk.

Edgin Darvis and Doric

Edgin definitely turned on all his charm when trying to recruit Doric, and as a bard it seems natural for him to ride the line of flirty and persuasive, putting on such a polished performance that the recipient (and maybe Edgin himself) can't tell if it's earnest or an act. Doric seemed immune to his charm when they first met, but maybe now they have a genuine emotional connection she'd slowly find herself feeling a confusing flutter in his presence.

But I'd also enjoy something more sincere between them: I loved the tender moment when Edgin was sitting on the rock on the beach - his little smile as she walked over, the way she gently patted his shoulder and he patted hers in return, and she smiled back - and maybe a quest together, or some strange magic, would push them into another scenario where they have to support or comfort each other. I enjoy these two as both fully & and fully / or anywhere in between - I'd love to see something platonic and intense, something ambiguously romantic or sexual, or something sexual but ambiguously romantic. Simon Aumar and Edgin Darvis

Edgin is so supportive of Simon and so determined to get him to believe in himself - but his encouraging speeches are always accompanied by pats to the shoulder or touches to Simon's face, in a way that always reads as ambiguously shippy to me. Simon resents this, but also follows Edgin into so much danger, even if he's nervous or grumbling. There's a trust and a bond between them, even if it sometimes frays, even if Edgin is hiding his true feelings.

I enjoy these two as both fully & and fully / or anywhere in between - I'd love to see something platonic and intense, something ambiguously romantic or sexual, or something sexual but ambiguously romantic. Feel free to set it pre-Korinn's Keep, during the film itself, or afterwards. (But if it's afterwards, and they're blurring - or outright crossing - the lines of sexual or romantic attraction, please don't mention Simon and Doric breaking up. Please either ignore that ship or give them an open relationship.)

  • One of them gets injured, and the other gently comforts him - holding him close, rubbing his back, whispering soft words, kissing his cheek or forehead, etc.

  • There Was Only One Bed... and it's a small bed.
  • Sometimes Edgin decides to drop Simon in it, whether pushing him to do some complicated magic or making him pay for the party's drinks, and it's both teasing and dismissive. Is this Edgin's way of keeping just a little distance, because he subconsciously has feelings for Simon that he doesn't want to acknowledge?
  • One of them has a nightmare - while sharing a bed, or while the other one is on watch in camp, etc - and the other comforts them, with physical affection and/or with an openly emotional conversation.
  • A magical artifact or a misfired spell accidentally creates a soulbond between them, and now they can hear each other's thoughts/feel each other's feelings/have to stay close to each other/all of the above. Is the new status of their relationship something they can even put into words - or do they want/need to, with such a deep understanding between them? What happens if they manage to break the bond?
  • After Simon flirts with someone and gets rejected again, Edgin offers to roleplay some flirting with him, to help him improve his technique - and the playacting leaves Simon with some confusing butterflies in his stomach.

  • Huddling for warmth, completely abandoning personal space as they snuggle close, wrapped in a blanket.
  • Or snuggling up in a tiny bed together.
  • Edgin clasping Simon's cheeks as he encourages him, looking remarkably like they're about to kiss.
  • One of them's injured in an intimate area (groin, upper thigh) and the other has to help him bandage it.
  • Edgin catches Simon as he collapses, holding him close, face full of concern.
  • One of them helping the other to walk.

Simon Aumar and Xenk Yendar

Simon keeps accidentally getting on Xenk's nerves (being sarcastic! destroying the bridge!) in a way you could read as a frisson of something else, but I really think if they spent more time together they could become good friends. Xenk is so kind, so brave, so protective, but he struggles with social interaction - I can see him finding it hard to express his feelings, maybe even hard to categorise his own feelings. And maybe awkward, inexperienced Simon would be dazzled by this legendary paladin in a way he can't quite define.

• Xenk tries to teach Simon some combat skills so he can defend himself if he runs out of spell slots/his wild magic misfires/he gets cuffed again. This involves a lot of Xenk physically correcting Simon's stance/hold, and maybe Simon has a clumsy moment and trips onto Xenk – who catches him in his strong arms... or maybe they end up tangled on the floor, with a tension in the air that they can't name.
  • There Was Only One Bed... and it's a small bed. Maybe Xenk would try to be chivalrous and sleep on the floor so Simon can have the bed, but Simon would feel too bad about that and insist that they can share?

Theodore "Laurie" Laurence and Josephine "Jo" March

These two have such a beautiful connection. I love how Laurie slots right into the March family, becoming a brother figure to them - but of course Jo is his very best friend, the one he's closest to, the one he has the deepest feelings for. And though Jo loves her sisters very much, having intense bonds with each of them, she has a connection with Laurie that is exceptional. Despite their money struggles, she never wears her sisters' hand-me-downs - but she and Laurie constantly wear each other's clothes. And they're always talking, laughing, roughhousing together, a secret and separate something as they dance and iceskate and sneak wine together. They're completely in each other's pockets - quite literally, at Meg's wedding, when Jo stands with her hand resting in Laurie's pocket.

There's an easy physical intimacy between them, of an unusually intense level, which lends itself so well to smarm. And a deep emotional connection too - but that connection isn't simple, it has multiple parts and layers, some of which conflict - because they love what they have, but they also want different things from it. Tomboyish, passionate Jo is desperate to hold onto the innocence of childhood, even as she's determined to establish herself as a mature writer. Yearning, excitable Laurie is used to a quiet and lonely life in the shadows, slowly finding his voice as Jo drags him in her frenzied wake - only to use that voice to ask the question that shatters them. They have such similar temperaments and joys - maybe too similar, allowing Laurie to languish in his indolence, without Jo challenging him to be more. And they disagree on some fundamental aspects - even as they mutually prioritise this ambiguous, wonderful, painful, uplifting thing between them.

I would love you to show me these two as emotionally and physically intense best friends, or queerplatonic partners, or some secret third thing, or ambiguously intimate. And you could set it any time from their first meeting, through their teenage years, into adulthood, or even post-movie. You're welcome to include Laurie's pining for Jo, even for them to experiment with romance via kissing, but I don't want them to ever have sex. Based on Laurie's statement that "I've always loved you - but the love I feel for Amy, it's different" you can also interpret his feelings for Jo as having always been platonic, or something else, but with him struggling to define them and so assuming they're romantic. I can also see Jo being confused or conflicted about her feelings for him, maybe trying to develop a romantic passion for him - and being devastated that she can't. I love Amy/Laurie, so I don't want an AU where they explicitly do not ever get together - but Laurie having a happy marriage with Amy and also an important thing with Jo is very welcome (though you're not required to mention Amy at all; I'd be very happy with something set pre-Europe; also some AUs below where Laurie may not have got together with Amy yet). However I'm fine with Jo/Bhaer not becoming a couple. Feel free to include Marmee, Mr March, Laurie's grandfather, Brooke, Meg, Amy, and/or Beth - including mourning Beth's canonical death.

Edit: Realised my note about Amy might've implied I'm not okay with some stuff I'd be totally fine with. I'm happy for 20 year old Laurie to declare things like "you're the one I care about most, Jo" or "I'll never love anyone but you", similar to canon. What I'm asking not to receive is stuff like canon divergence AUs where Laurie is 30 years old but also definitely not married to Amy. It's fine to play with the timeline a bit (especially for an AU where Beth lives), to have Laurie know he has a platonic-ambiguous soulmate connection with Jo, for Laurie's subjective narration to insist his feelings for Jo are primary and eternal, etc ... as long as the objective narrative doesn't make a future with canon-like Amy/Laurie completely impossible.

Narrative Prompts
  • These two are so good for seasonal fun. Picnics! Country walks! Ice skating! We see them having such a great time together (and with the other Marches) as their intense relationship hovers on the boundaries between best friends and something else. You could zoom in to a moment that already exists in the film, or show me them together in a new one - making flower crowns, kicking off their shoes to dip their feet in a cold lake on a warm summer's day, strolling through falling autumn leaves, building a snowman, having a snowball fight, giggling as they find a hidden corner to devour a batch of gingerbread... Those little moments of daily life are a great setting to display their relationship.
  • The way they casually touch each other must surely be unusual for a boy and girl in the 1860s. Jo seems as happy to hug and cuddle with her Teddy as with her sisters, maybe even more so - is she mentally casting him as a brother, and so making it socially acceptable? But does Laurie feel a tingle of joy every time she wraps in close? Maybe as an orphan living with his closed-off grandfather, Laurie's a little touchstarved, and Jo sates an appetite he can't name - but assumes is romantic, even if it isn't. Maybe with no siblings and seemingly few friends, Laurie doesn't know if this is normal or not, and that adds to his confusion - and his desperation to savour it. Whatever the reason, whatever the expectations society might have for them, I love to see them being physically affectionate - whether a soft and gentle moment, or pushed to intense smarm levels. Holding hands, snuggling up, kisses on the cheek or forehead, ruffling hair... Any or all of it.
  • Jo is such an attentive nurse to Beth. What if Laurie was sick (not dangerously so) and she insisted on taking care of him - or Jo was sick, and Laurie wanted to do the same for her? (Maybe she falls ill while visiting his house, or he insists on being part of the sisters' caretaking rota.) The gentle attention, the physical touch, the vulnerability, the intimacy of seeing them in nightclothes or in bed... All of it could push the boundaries of what they are (supposed to be), creating an ambiguous situation full of soft and intense feelings.
  • Does pining Laurie cautiously suggest to Jo that they try kissing? Maybe she's writing a romantic subplot, and is wondering aloud what kissing is like - and he offers to help her find out. Maybe she's hoping she can convince herself to love him, so one day when he shifts in close with that look in his eye, Jo leans in too - even letting him kiss her on multiple occasions, enjoying the sensation... wondering if this is what love feels like, or hoping a flame will spark in her, and feeling guilty because she knows it's not happening. Maybe they find themselves under the mistletoe - and have different feelings about the kiss that results.
  • Marmee encourages Laurie to join the sisters' theatricals, and putting on a play offers the opportunity to experiment with roles. Does Jo cast Laurie as her character's love interest, requiring a kiss between them? Maybe it's meant to be a kiss on the cheek, or just mimed - but he earnestly suggests it'd be completely alright if they committed to realism... only it isn't real, of course. (Maybe one of the sisters is meant to play the love interest, but she's ill one day so Laurie temporarily takes the role during a rehearsal, or Jo is still hashing out the script and gets Laurie to run through all the roles with her?) Maybe Jo casts Laurie as her love rival, or even enemy, requiring them to stage an impressive fight - which results in some intense wrestling, or other physical contact that gets Laurie's heart racing. He also, to a certain extent, plays at being a suitor in their real lives - imitating the way Brooke offers an arm to Meg, etc - and that's something you could look at. Plus that time Jo echoed a proposal by dropping to one knee, and presenting the ring that Laurie refuses to remove afterwards...
  • I'd love a soulmate AU for them, where both platonic and romantic soulmates are possible. Maybe there's no external sign of whether any soulmate connection is romantic or platonic, leaving each couple to define it themselves - resulting in Jo and Laurie having different assumptions about what they are. Maybe it is possible to tell the difference - but that sign doesn't appear immediately (maybe because they're children) so Laurie is left to stew in his hope, till the truth comes out. I also love the idea of Laurie, Jo, Amy, Beth and Meg all being a big bundle of five soulmates together - and maybe Laurie knows one of them is his romantic soulmate, but they all have the same five soulmarks, so he can't tell which one - and desperately hopes it's Jo, completely unaware that it will turn out to be Amy. (Though you don't have to show him making that discovery.)
  • There's a bit of genderfuckery going on with these two - Alcott deliberately gave Jo a "masculine" nickname and Laurie a "feminine" one, and of course in this version they share clothes. Despite crying after cutting her hair, Jo also declares "I can't get over my disappointment in being a girl" and such - I can definitely see her as transmasc, or maybe nonbinary. I don't get a specifically transfem vibe from Laurie, but I can see him being nonbinary, genderqueer, or having feelings he's confused about. Maybe the clothes swapping is the only action he takes, maybe he overtly experiments with a more ambiguous presentation in the privacy of the March household, maybe one of Jo's plays allows him to take on a different role for a while? Whereas I can see confident and successful writer Jo deciding to fully live as a man - or maybe this is an AU where he transitioned as a teenager. (Or even before meeting Laurie, which could add some interesting layers to Laurie's burgeoning feelings for Jo/Joe... Or even maybe an AU where Joe is a cis boy - but Laurie still has the same complicated feelings?) But being the only people they know who feel like this, I can see them having intense discussions about it, leading to a deep emotional intimacy and a special connection they can't share with anyone else.
  • I'm also very open to aroace depictions of Jo. I felt like being happily single suited her themes and storyline more, so while Jo/Bhaer was cute I'm happy to receive an AU where she never got together with him. Maybe she can't love Laurie romantically - but she does deeply love him, maybe in a way that's more than platonic, and they develop a queerplatonic or ambiguous/undefined relationship? And you could examine that connection alone, maybe during their intense teen years, but I'm also interested in how that combines with a happy marriage between Amy/Laurie (as long as Laurie never had sex with Jo). Does this arrangement mean Amy still struggles with feeling like second place to Jo, or vice versa - before they have an earnest heart to heart? Does Laurie struggle to express what he feels, or wants? Do they all set up house together, and have to navigate the practicalities of that? I think it'd be a really complicated and interesting scenario, with a lot of different questions you could explore, though I like to believe they would all get a happy ending.

Visual Prompts
  • In the act of swapping pieces of clothing.
  • Cuddled right up together - on a picnic blanket, in front of the fire, in a blanket fort in the attic...
  • One of them lying in bed, sick with a fever or such, while the other one perches beside them - gently touching their cheek, or leaning in to apply a cold compress.
  • Holding hands as they ice skate, or dance, or...
  • Jo blushing, looking confused, or possibly alarmed as Laurie kisses her cheek - or even her lips. Maybe under the mistletoe?

James T. Kirk and Christopher Pike

I love that Pike was the first one to believe in Kirk - and the one who got Kirk to believe in himself. He finds this young guy losing a bar fight and tells him he can do more, be better, live up to not only his potential but his father's legacy. And Kirk hears that challenge and says no, I'll do even better than that.

But there's a tension between them: Pike encourages Kirk's out-of-the-box thinking and urge for heroics, but also expects him to follow the rules (or at least know which rules to break and when). Kirk respects him, wants his approval, wants to excel, but he's used to rebellion and reckless behaviour and is willing to risk more than other people are comfortable with. There's this push and pull where they're trying to find where the line should fall, and maybe that could play into an ambiguous relationship: unsure if what's between them is "appropriate", or unable (maybe unwilling) to define what it is and what it means, blurring the lines between leadership, mentorship, friendship, and something else.

Pike is so formative for who Kirk becomes, so he probably has an exceptional place in his life. But maybe with all his trauma and commitment issues, Kirk is reluctant to even examine his feelings for Pike, let alone define them, let alone act on them - even if a dubcon situation pushes them towards some "no strings" (but emotionally intense) sexual contact. In turn, maybe Pike knows he feels something for Kirk - but feels too guilty to express that, knowing how much influence he has over this younger man. Or maybe they both see it simply as a mentorship - but one which involves a greater degree of emotional and/or physical intimacy than other people would ascribe to such a role. Or some other ambiguous, intense and/or complicated situation. I enjoy these two as both fully & and fully / or anywhere in between, so I'm happy with you placing them anywhere on that spectrum.

You could set this anywhere from their first meeting, during Kirk's time at Starfleet Academy, or during Kirk's actual officer career - but if it's during or after Into Darkness, please go AU and have Pike live! I'd also be interested in an AU where Kirk becomes Pike's First Officer aboard Enterprise, either as canon divergence partway through Into Darkness or for some other reason - what kind of relationship would they develop there?

(No preference for whether you call them Jim/Kirk or Chris/Pike, use what you prefer.)

Narrative Prompts
  • The dangers of space exploration create a lot of opportunity for some intense hurt/comfort. Maybe one of them gets injured - and the other has to press in close, holding him tight, helping him to walk so they can reach safety. Maybe the injury's in an intimate area (groin, upper thigh, etc) and the other one has to help bandage him, till he can seek proper medical attention. Maybe the injury didn't result in any bleeding or immediate danger - just a lot of pain, leading to a vulnerable situation where the other one gently looks after him - holding him close, rubbing his back, whispering soft reassurance, kissing his cheek or forehead, etc.
  • While imprisoned in an alien cell, or sharing the Only One Bed the aliens had spare, or trying to get some sleep while hiding in a cave during some big dramatic action... one of them has a nightmare and the other comforts them, with physical affection and/or with an openly emotional conversation.
  • An alien artifact accidentally creates a telepathic link between them, and now they can hear each other's thoughts/feel each other's feelings/have to stay close to each other/all of the above. How do they deal with this unexpected level of intimacy? Is the new status of their relationship something they can even put into words - or do they want/need to, with such a deep understanding between them? What happens if they manage to break the bond? Do they even want to? Maybe they make excuses about it being too dangerous to try...
  • As part of a First Officer AU or Captain Kirk escorting Admiral Pike, they go on a diplomatic mission to an alien planet - but for reasons, those aliens require the two of them to be a couple, and so Kirk and Pike have to fake a relationship for them. But all the handholding, sitting close, gentle affection - maybe even kissing - stirs tingles in Pike and Kirk... even if they don't want to examine them, or act on them. Maybe the aliens even throw a ceremony where the two diplomats are expected to have sex - so Kirk and Pike decide to try and fake it. But the intimacy of those touches, whispered requests for permission, being mostly naked, and the physical simulation of thrusting is very real, leading to a confusingly ambiguous experience.
  • Another night when Pike locates an angsty Kirk getting drunk in a bar, trying to convince him things will get better - but this time, with his habit of sleeping around, Kirk decides the best way to sidestep the emotional issues he wants to ignore is... to proposition Pike, maybe even try to kiss him. But maybe Pike can see that a hookup would be the worst thing for Kirk (and their relationship) right now - even if he's attracted to him. Or maybe Pike realises Kirk isn't doing it out of attraction, but out of vulnerability, and shuts him down for that reason. (But maybe not before they have that kiss... or a little clothed fumbling.)
Or maybe they decide (or have to, because it'll be fatal otherwise) to have sex, despite no previous hope for that, and have to rely on their trust and friendship in the intimate situation.
  • There are some fascinating possibilities in a BDSM AU, either with born dom Pike and born sub (or switch) Kirk, or where Starfleet is a dom/sub hierarchy with all ranks expected to submit to the one above them. But Pike takes Kirk on as his sub, either at the Academy or while serving together on a ship, as a normalised part of his mentorship role. Maybe such relationships are expected to be chaste - but still innately kinky. Maybe sexual contact is allowed, but the exact meaning of it is complicated for them. Maybe sexual contact is expected, but Pike refuses, fearing its effects on Kirk - creating an ambiguous (even socially transgressive) relationship that they struggle to define. Maybe Kirk desperately wants sexual intimacy with Pike - but he chafes against the rules of a BDSM world as much as the canon rules of Starfleet, and so rejects any sexual submission. I think there are a lot of interesting ways it could play out!
  • While trapped on an alien planet, maybe omega Kirk goes into heat, and alpha Pike gently looks after him - holding him close so he can smell his scent, holding the back of his neck to calm him, maybe even kissing him for better delivery of calming pheromones. They successfully resist the urge to have sex, teetering on the boundary - but maybe Pike has to politely ignore Kirk fingering himself to take the edge off.

Visual Prompts
  • Huddling for warmth, completely abandoning personal space as they snuggle close, wrapped in a blanket.
  • Kirk helping an injured Pike to walk. Maybe the canon scene after Kirk rescues Pike from Nero? Or Kirk catching Pike as he collapses.
  • Pike carefully bandaging or comforting an injured Kirk.
  • Handcuffed together by some alien artifact.
  • Drunk Kirk flirting with a stoic Pike.
  • Pike publicly buckles a collar around Kirk's neck, both of them fully clothed.
  • A desperate Kirk crawls into Pike's lap, trying to resist the effects of sex pollen or an omegaverse heat, as Pike gently but respectfully comforts him.
