Eat, Drink & Make Merry 2025
Thank you for creating something for me! My username is
forsworn. I requested fic or art in nine fandoms. The genres I'm asking for vary, so sweet/sour is noted per request. Treats are welcome!
I love one character cooking for another, characters cooking together, eating together. Food as affection, food as (found) family life, food as culture/worldbuilding. For an angstier tone, food reminding them of a lost home or person - or fuelling pining for the person in front of them. Maybe hurt/comfort, bringing food to a sick person? Or maybe they have a nice romantic meal followed by making love.

Simon Basset/Anthony Bridgerton
Genres: Sweet, Sour
There's clearly such a deep connection between these two. In their first scene, Simon's grumpy mood disappears the moment he sees Anthony again, and there's such a sense of fondness between them. I love that Simon's response to Daphne's line that one should marry their dearest friend is: "Are you suggesting I marry your brother?" But Anthony and Simon struggle to express their feelings and open up about their problems, leading to various punchups between them - is that simply about inarticulated frustration, or is there a subconscious desire for physical contact?
Despite his charm and rakish attitude, Simon resents being vulnerable - and uses his sharp tongue as a shield. Protective Anthony is more open despite his trauma, but struggles with the burden of responsibility vs his urge to indulge - though he once had a more humourous, even prank-loving side, which Simon alone seems familiar with. There's a complete contrast with their family situations - Anthony and the fond bustle of all his siblings, only child Simon rejected by his father - and I think that could lead them to different, interesting outlooks on (and hopes for) personal relationships. But they're both rakes, happily indulging their forbidden desires, and while others might disapprove maybe Simon and Anthony would celebrate that commonality.
But there are some desires too taboo even for a rake. Even in the Bridgerton universe, the Regency time period means homosexual love and attraction are completely forbidden. I can see that resulting in a certain amount of internalised homophobia - a reluctance to admit even to themselves what they're feeling, a belief that it's something that shouldn't be indulged, that it's something shamefully unmanly, even dangerous. (And they wouldn't be entirely wrong - they could be hanged if society found out; I'm fine with that worry being present, with that vague threat hanging over them, but please don't out them or have anyone actually threaten them.) Maybe all of that combines with a more standard hesitation about intimacy, and results in them mutually pining - even for years. Or maybe, as they're already scandalising polite society, they don't see the problem as long as their relationship stays secret, and happily hop into bed. But that need for secrecy, the fact they can only be their true selves in private, could also lend a certain intensity and closeness to the whole thing.
You could set this during their Oxford days, or later when they're rakes about town, or a no-wives AU. I enjoy this both as a romance and as a friends-with-benefits arrangement - or FWB who accidentally fall in love. And I'm happy for the other Bridgertons and/or Lady Danbury to appear - and even to find out, and quietly approve of, Simon/Anthony's secret relationship. (Benedict obviously won't care, lmao.)
Paul Atreides/Duncan Idaho
Genres: Sweet, Sour
I was sold on these two from that very first hug. Their power dynamic is complicated and intriguing: Duncan is older, stronger, a more skilled warrior, and Paul's combat tutor - but Paul is the heir to House Atreides and capable of using the Voice. And there seems such genuine affection between them. I love how Duncan teases Paul, but also calls him "my boy"... And this exchange: "Can I trust you with something?" "Always. You know that." Omfg. I am all about the trust, loyalty and duty here - on both sides.
And Duncan really is so loyal, so devoted, willing to sacrifice everything for House Atreides. He's a deeply honourable man, dependable and trustworthy enough to be Paul's confidante - enough to be sent to the Fremen, where he develops so much respect for their way of life. With Paul, he's mostly playful, but he does have a serious side - in official meetings, and in that moment Paul prophesies his death. But maybe all of that honour and strong spirit leads him to repressing his feelings, determined to protect Paul from any pain he might accidentally inflict? Because he has twenty years of life experience on Paul, with all the scars that grants - physical and emotional.
I love how soft and sweet Paul can be - his teases with Duncan, openly hugging Thufir - but I also enjoy his harder, harsher aspects. He's determined, a survivor, even ruthless - he literally doesn't blink at that hunter-seeker, his whimpers at the painbox transmute to a steely defiance. And Paul takes his duties seriously, following Leto's example as a protective leader - but being the ducal heir also gives Paul an edge of pride, even petulance, so offended by the Reverend Mother dismissing Jessica, of forcing him to kneel. And he still has a little teenage moodiness, telling Gurney he doesn't feel like sparring. With Duncan, my main focus for Paul is him being playful and/or a serious student, and I'm happy for you to stick to that side of him - but I do love the nuance of his flaws if you want to include those.
The two of them have such a beautiful bond - but there are definite obstacles to a relationship between them. No doubt Paul is expected to make a political match, and Duncan hardly fits the image of a polished concubine. What kind of relationship do they, can they, hope to have? Maybe it starts as a mentorship-with-benefits thing, Duncan giving Paul a way to explore sex with someone he trusts - and then feelings develop. Or maybe they hide their feelings, mutually pining, convinced that the other one wouldn't (shouldn't) be interested in them. Maybe they think they can never be together - because of the age difference, or the power difference, or because Leto would never approve. And it'd be understandable if Leto was suspicious - but maybe Duncan could convince him that he'd never hurt or unduly influence Paul, or Paul could convince Leto that his feelings for Duncan are strong and genuine?
I'm mainly looking for something set just before canon, or maybe early in the first film, once Duncan returns from the Fremen - before everything goes to shit on Arrakis. DNW underage, but Paul's age is ambiguous, so I will happily assume he's over 18 at this point. But as he's still young, and there don't seem to be any people his own age around Castle Caladan, I can see Paul still being a virgin. And I'm fine with Paul having had a crush on Duncan before he turned 18, but please don't have Duncan thinking of Paul that way before he's an adult. Other than that, feel free to delve into the age difference as much as you want!
Doric & Xenk Yendar
Genres: Sweet, Sour
We don't really get any focused moments between these two in the film, but Doric actually seems like the least hostile to Xenk from the beginning - ironic considering her stance on humans started as "hateful and selfish" and "just can't help but lie"... but then Xenk and his ridiculous paladin goodness are so obviously the opposite of that! Now that she's decided humans are "okay", I'd love to see her and Xenk become true friends. They have similar outlooks and a lot of similar experiences, so I think they'd really understand each other in ways the others might not.
Doric/Xenk Yendar
Genres: Sweet, Sour
We don't really get any focused moments between these two in the film, but Doric actually seems like the least hostile to Xenk from the beginning - ironic considering her stance on humans started as "hateful and selfish" and "just can't help but lie"... but then Xenk and his ridiculous paladin goodness are so obviously the opposite of that! If Xenk joined the party for further adventures, I like to imagine they'd become good friends, and then fall in love (maybe after mutually pining).
I love Doric's combination of a sharp tongue with her moral integrity and intense environmental concern, and how that contrasts and blends with Xenk's stern intensity, his awkward ways, and his own intense sense of justice and goodness. They're both visibly outsiders in ways the others aren't, so maybe they would have a natural understanding - or they'd bond over the angst of losing their families because of it. And between their outsider status and Xenk's sense of duty, I tend to imagine they're both virgins.
(Please don't mention Simon and Doric breaking up. I'd rather you give them an open relationship, make it an AU where they were never into each other, or just ignore that ship altogether.)
Edgin Darvis/Doric
Genres: Sweet, Sour
While trying to recruit her, Edgin was definitely using all his charm (although not in a sexual way) but Doric seemed utterly immune to it. I loved the tender moment when Edgin was sitting on the rock on the beach: his little smile as she walked over, the way she gently patted his shoulder and he patted hers in return, and she smiled back. Maybe his charm would be more welcome now they have a genuine connection, or maybe she'd be the one to instigate it.
I love that Doric is so committed to doing good and looking after nature, but that she doesn't let the rules stand in her way. And she has a very sharp tongue, in contrast to Edgin's silver one. Edgin thinks of himself as a thief and a lawbreaker, and is maybe trying to pretend he doesn't enjoy doing good as much as he actually does. He uses humour and a charming mask to hide his pain, but Doric absolutely doesn't fall for it - even if she'll be soft when he finally lets himself be vulnerable. But is she prepared to be vulnerable in return?
(Please don't mention Simon and Doric breaking up. I'd rather you give them an open relationship, make it an AU where they were never into each other, or just ignore that ship altogether.)
Edgin Darvis & Holga Kilgore
Genres: Sweet, Sour
I can't tell you how excited I was to see a canon male-female relationship that will explicitly only ever be platonic, and yet is vitally important to their lives. I love how they clearly care for and respect each other, despite being so different, and how they use their different skills to achieve their goals together.
I would be happy to see anything about the two of them, set at any point from when they first meet to after the events of the film. Fluff, angst, hurt/comfort... All of it. I just want to see them bantering, working together, protecting each other, being best friends and co-parents. I love seeing little hints of affection peeking through Holga's gruffness, and I love Edgin feeling secure enough to drop his cheerful mask. But I also love them being genuinely happy together.
Edgin Darvis/Xenk Yendar
Genres: Sweet, Sour
These two have such a great dynamic. I love their banter and how they spark with each other - Xenk and his literal mind bouncing off Edgin's usual wordplay, still prompting smiles in each other, even as they clash over Edgin's thievery and Xenk's paladin ways. That contrast somehow settles to a comfortable blend, with Edgin reluctant for Xenk to leave. And I love how touchyfeely they are - Edgin in general, and Xenk with all his (offers of) handholding... Pressing his hand to Edgin's on the Harper's seal, pulling him up after saving him, their earnest handshake as they prepare to part. So much touching! And so much banter! But they also challenge each other to grow, and I'd love to see how their relationship develops after the film, with a softer friendship blossoming into romance.
Despite his 20 minutes of screentime, Edgin's narrative arc is so bound up with Xenk. Edgin's been projecting this image of a cheerful, charming leader for so long, hiding his deep trauma over Zia with quips and songs. He's focused all of his pain into hating the Red Wizards, blaming Thayans for his loss - maybe because it's easier than blaming himself. But then he meets Xenk, a Thayan so noble and innocent that it shatters Edgin's foundation. And Edgin can't even console himself with the idea that anyone in his position would've been tempted by that gold - because again, Xenk is so pure and moral, and proves that people can be better. Even makes Edgin promise to be more than a common thief, reigniting his old Harper heroism. Xenk is the pivot point of Edgin's growth and healing.
Xenk's own angst is mostly implied, a subtext to the fascinating details we get. He's a paladin, a holy warrior, so strict in protecting others - but he's also a Thayan, a hated outsider, visibly marked by necromantic magic. I love the tension in him being both blessed and cursed. Does Xenk feel the need to be the perfect paladin to balance out the terrible opinions people have about Thayans? Once people have accepted his cursed nature, do they tend to place him on a pedestal, glorifying him as a legendary paladin instead? He glides away from the crowd's praise after saving that catbaby; his retort to Edgin's anti-Thayan sentiment is not to defend himself, but to speak of other Thayans, innocents turned into monsters. Does he think of himself as a monster? But Xenk is so kind and caring, risking himself to save Edgin - and so stern and serious, rigidly sticking to his moral framework. Does he feel bound by his duty, by his paladin vows - even to the point of repressing his own wants, needs and hopes? Does he feel he has to earn his own humanity, by so harshly rejecting his own partially undead nature, by being such a paragon of virtue? Does Xenk feel like he can't be less than perfect? Maybe his insistence that Edgin can be a better man is a reflection of Xenk's need to believe in his own goodness.
With all of those worries swirling around, these two could slip so deep into mutual pining. Maybe Xenk thinks he can't be with anyone because of his duty as a paladin, or because the Beckoning Death has left him cursed, partially undead, lacking part of his soul, etc. Maybe Edgin finds out Xenk is a virgin and assumes the guy isn't interested in sex at all. (I do headcanon Xenk as a virgin.) Or Edgin thinks Xenk's too noble and pure to want a criminal like him, or thinks Xenk wants someone more serious or more intellectual. Xenk thinking Edgin's too charming and sociable to want someone as awkward and unbending as him... I love the angsty possibilities of all this, the two of them keeping their feelings secret even as they're practically bursting with longing. And when combined with their touchyfeely natures - they must be torturing each other!
Established relationship and getting together both welcome. Edgin's lingering angst over Zia is fine. Or you could do some angst focusing on that mutual pining, or some physical hurt/comfort, or soft fluff, or fun tropes - maybe as part of a new adventure for them. I'm open to both autistic Xenk and/or ADHD Edgin, or neurotypical depictions. I mainly see Xenk as being sworn to justice, as a general concept, rather than a specific god - but feel free to pick one, if it suits the themes of your work. (Like, Ilmater is a great choice if Xenk is suffering, whether in whump or in sexy painplay.) And feel free to include any or all of the party!
Edgin Darvis/Zia Darvis/Xenk Yendar
Genres: Sweet, Sour
I really like the idea of Edgin getting to be happy with Zia but also with Xenk, and Zia and Xenk being happy together too. So... AU where she never dies? Maybe Edgin stays a Harper and ends up working with Xenk, and they get closer, resulting in Xenk being drawn into the established marriage? Or Edgin and Zia successfully flee the Red Wizards with baby Kira, and when they seek help Xenk is the one who swears to protect them?
Edgin seemed a lot softer before Zia's death - and maybe less prone to hiding his feelings - and Zia seemed very sweet and understanding, and I'd love to see what kind of dynamic they develop with kind but serious Xenk. Would love to see them being domestic in the cottage at Targos, all helping to raise Kira, or - as Edgin and Holga managed to take young Kira on the road - maybe all three of them could have glorious adventures together, making the world a better place?
Holga Kilgore & Xenk Yendar
Genres: Sweet, Sour
Between Holga's natural gruffness, her quick labelling of Xenk as "no fun" and the short amount of screentime they spend together, we don't really get to see these two bonding. I'd love them to move towards friendship and a mutual appreciation of each other, even if Holga only demonstrates that affection through very small gestures. Maybe they'd bond over being the stern, stoic ones - or maybe it's only once the cracks appear in Xenk's unflappable paladin image that Holga begins to understand him. They're both exiles from their families and cultures, so maybe that's something they'd bond over too.
Kira Darvis & Xenk Yendar
Genres: Sweet, Sour
I'm fine with this being either in the context of background Xenk/Edgin or just Xenk joining the party and becoming their friend. I want all the super soft platonic or familial feelings here, with maybe a bit of angst due to Kira's time with Forge.
How long does it take Kira to trust Xenk? How much of Edgin's hatred of Thayans did she pick up? Does her experience with Forge - a man she trusted because Edgin trusted him, who then turned on her - affect how willing she is to believe in Xenk's goodness, or in Edgin's declaration of Xenk's goodness? Does she no longer trust her own assessment of people? Does Xenk have to work hard to reassure her... or is his innate goodness so incredibly obvious that actually she trusts him quite quickly?
Simon Aumar/Doric
Genres: Sweet, Sour
I love how soft Simon gets around Doric and I'd love to see her showing a softer side to him in return. (I do love Doric's spikiness though.) And I love that over the course of the film, she was very interested every time Simon's competency was shown or discussed - she was always into him, she just had this one dealbreaker, and then he fixed it! (Well, maybe he didn't entirely fix it: I love Simon having more confidence, but it might be nice to see him struggle a little - with Doric encouraging him, now she's convinced of his capability.) Does Doric have a competency kink?
Both of them have angsty pasts: Doric as a tiefling rejected by her parents, who's visibly an outsider wherever she goes; Simon as a sorcerer trying to live up to his family's long legacy of wizardry. Plus, as a half-elf, wherever he was raised, he was probably too human for the elves and too elven for the humans. As they get to know each other better, it'd be great to see them open up to each other about these things.
Maybe their courting is awkward at first, possibly hampered by Simon's tendency to break things or fall over, but I absolutely believe they're a good match and would love to see a happy relationship grow between them.
Simon Aumar/Edgin Darvis
Genres: Sweet, Sour
I love how Edgin is absolutely convinced of Simon's potential badassery (he has a mental list of all the times Simon's magic worked!) and how he's determined to make Simon believe it too - and this, for some reason, involves touching Simon's face a lot. Simon is awkward and sulky in the face of this, even though he's perfectly willing to trust Edgin and follow his lead in other areas - maybe Simon is pining, and can't let himself believe that Edgin cares about him, or is worried about opening his heart? Depending on the situation, maybe Edgin feels too weird about the age difference, and doesn't want to take advantage of Simon... until something pushes them together. Could be post-canon, or a missing scene any time from Simon first joining Edgin's crew of thieves up to Korinn's Keep.
(Please don't mention Simon and Doric breaking up. I'd rather you give them an open relationship, make it an AU where they were never into each other, or just ignore that ship altogether.)
Simon Aumar & Xenk Yendar
Genres: Sweet, Sour
In the film, Simon mostly seems to get on Xenk's nerves (being sarcastic! destroying the bridge!) but he's not doing it on purpose and I really think if they spent more time together they could become good friends. Despite his initial jealousy, Simon is eager for Xenk to stay at the end. But maybe Simon worries that Xenk doesn't like him, or doesn't respect him? And Xenk isn't great at social interaction, so he might not realise Simon feels that way, or might not know how to explain that he actually does care. Potentially some angst there, but I'd also love some fluff.
I imagine them both to be quite nerdy: Simon in a "likes to know a bit about everything" way, Xenk more specifically interested in history and puzzles. Maybe they could find common ground in geeking out about some artifact or old book they discover, or just having a good chat about some fascinating information. (I don't think anyone else in the party would be that interested, so they'd probably both be like finally! Someone who gets it!) Or they have to combine their knowledge in order to unlock a puzzle inside a dungeon?

Despite his initial jealousy, Simon is eager for Xenk to stay at the end. Under his sarcasm, his awkwardness, and his occasional sulkiness, Simon is rather sweet and kinda adorable. And once you see past his stern manner and paladin morals, Xenk is kind and actually sorta awkward too.
I like the idea that they're both a bit dorky, deeply interested in niche subjects, in a way none of the others understand. But I think they could find some common ground. But maybe Simon worries that Xenk doesn't like him, or doesn't respect him? Simon Aumar & Edgin Darvis & Kira Darvis & Doric & Holga Kilgore & Xenk Yendar
Genres: Sweet, Sour
Ah, I have so many feelings about these characters. Awkward, sarcastic Simon; spiky, principled Doric; charming, angsty Edgin; stern, caring Xenk; sweet, earnest Kira; gruff, secretly caring Holga... I love the found family that the party develop over the course of the film, and really want to see Kira and Xenk included in that as they all adventure together. I'm looking for banter, tender feelings, protectiveness, and/or the interplay between everyone's different personalities. Fluff, angst, action-adventure and hurt/comfort are all great!
Ashley Albright/Jake Hardin
Genres: Sweet
Jake is so sweet, and I love how he'd created a system to minimise the impact of his bad luck - and how happy he was once things started going his way. Ashley started off charmingly oblivious, and I loved her journey towards understanding and valuing hard work - and rejecting an easy life for a life full of love. They were so cute and had such fun chemistry even when they were friends - and were so supportive and eager to help each other even before they realised they'd switched luck. I'd love to see them supporting each other, as well as just generally being sweet and happy together. (And I'm fine with their bad luck being used for humour as long as the results aren't permanent/catastrophic.)
Jake Hardin & Katy Hardin
Genres: Sweet
These two have such an adorable brother-sister type relationship. It's never actually specified how they're related, but it seems like he's either her cousin or her uncle? But he's so sweet and soft with her, and there's such genuine affection between them. They've clearly bonded over their shared bad luck, with Jake reassuring and encouraging Katy, and using all the tricks he's learned to solve little problems for her. But they're also happy just to hang out, and it seems like they both really enjoy that casual domesticity. I would love something fluffy and cute, whether pre-canon or post-canon or a missing scene. (Background Jake/Ashley is welcome.)
Theodore "Laurie" Laurence/Amy March
Genres: Sweet
I already knew these two were endgame, but this was the first version of Little Women I consumed and it's basically the Laurie/Amy truther version, and the ship completely grabbed me. I have so many feelings about their arc: little Amy pining for her big sister's best friend, lonely Laurie slotting right into their family like a brother even as he pines for Jo... then Laurie and Amy reuniting in Europe as adults, with all those childhood years giving them such a comfortable rapport. Only now Amy is a clear-eyed woman dealing with the difficult questions of marriage, and Laurie's struggling with his heartbreak.
I love their gentle, awkward, prickly edging towards open affection - and I love that Amy is so determined to be practical, but still being swayed by her feelings. She's seen the best of Laurie and refuses to let him be his worst - after all, if she can live with unrequited love, why can't he? And I love that she refuses to surrender to her own girlish crush and accept his first flimsy suggestion of feelings - forcing them both to assess what they really want, and to come to each other afresh, in a moment of genuine emotion and honesty. And despite the loss of Beth, they seem so happy together! Laurie practically glows as he talks about Amy.
I'm fine with past Laurie/Jo as long as it was never consummated (although I got the impression in this film, it was more like Laurie had an unrequited crush, or wasn't really sure what kind of love he was feeling?). But you don't have to mention that ship at all, if you don't want to.
Theodore "Laurie" Laurence & Amy March & Beth March & Jo March & Meg March
Genres: Sweet
I love big families, with all the complex intertwined relationships that result, and I love how Laurie blended into that. The girls are all so different but so similar at the same time, and I love the contrasts and parallels between them - like how they all have a creative outlet, but in different spheres. And I had so many feelings about them drawing lonely orphan Laurie into that, turning him into almost a brother figure. The March household seemed so cosy, always so full of homely activity and love - even when they were arguing. I definitely got the impression Laurie was pining to be part of their family - and to stay part of it as they grew up. And who could blame him? All the fun of putting on plays, going ice skating, secret meetings in the attic, matching keys for a private letterbox, celebrating Christmas together... And all four sisters seem fond of Laurie - even shy Beth was happy for Laurie to hug an arm around her when they were preparing to send Marmee to nurse their father.
I'd like all five of them to at least have a small appearance in the work, but you don't have to feature them all equally. Laurie's unrequited crush on Jo and Amy's (currently) unrequited crush on Laurie are fine to include in the background, but please keep the focus on the sense of them as a group. And you're welcome to have Laurie's grandfather, Marmee, and/or Mr March etc appear as well!
Marjorie Bruce & Elizabeth de Burgh
Genres: Sweet
I have so many feelings about the bond these two develop, and I love how much the narrative legitimises it. "You are Marjorie's and she is yours." Just omfg. Feel free to set your work any time from them first bonding, to Elizabeth looking after Marjorie while they're on the run/kept captive, being reunited, or as Marjorie grows up... Whether Elizabeth is playing with Marjorie, singing to her, comforting her, teaching her, whatever, I just love how much they love each other. Feel free to include Robert too!
Robert Bruce/Elizabeth de Burgh
Genres: Sweet
I love the gentle, tender romance that develops between these two. Robert is clearly attracted to Elizabeth from the moment they meet, but out of respect for her autonomy or for his first wife, he refuses to claim his "marital rights". Elizabeth is resigned to her duty, striding into her new life despite the flicker of fear over physical intimacy - and when she discovers that sex is off the table, it gives her space to fall in love with him.
I love the quiet, sometimes awkward moments of daily life, encountering each other in corridors and repeatedly saying goodnight - as well as Elizabeth developing a strong bond with Marjorie. But I also love the bolder, more political moments, from the ceremonies to Elizabeth displaying her political nouse and swearing herself to him. They match each other on every level - ruling together, laughing together, supporting each other's needs, whether big or small - and their love is deep and genuine. I was so pleased that she was the one to invite him to bed, and that he waited for her without question, resulting in a tender and passionate consummation. And I love that - despite her being a determined, intelligent queen and him being a complex, canny leader capable of brutality - when they're laughing and kissing they feel more like awkward, earnest teenage lovers embarking on innocent first love. If you want to try and capture all those nuances, you're very welcome to - but I'd be happy with something that highlights just one aspect, whether fluffy or dramatic.
You're very welcome to include Marjorie, or their other historical children, as well as references to Robert's relationship with his first wife. Also, don't feel you need to be historically accurate at all - the film clearly isn't! If you do happen to know about the period, feel free to use that knowledge to expand on the film, though please don't change anything established by the movie. But you're also welcome to just make up details that "feel right".
Nicholas Devereaux/Mia Thermopolis
Genres: Sweet
This is such a great example of enemies to lovers. I love that they're kind and flirty at their first meeting, because they're immediately attracted to each other, and that even once they're enemies they can't hide that sexual tension. But their enmity is based on both seeking something only one of them can have rather than ideological differences: Nicholas seems more motivated by whether Mia's going to be a good queen and whether she really knows Genovia (and by his uncle's influence), and not a personal hunger for power. So once he's convinced of her capability (and she of his sincerity) and he gives up his claim to the crown, there's no question about whether they'd be able to find common ground.
I love both the push-and-pull of Nicholas flirting and Mia trying to resist (in the closet, by the fountain, the deleted scene in the kitchen) as well as them being soft and friendly with each other: Nicholas supporting Mia by helping with her archery, and the night they spend together before her wedding where we see them opening up emotionally, dancing close, and falling asleep in each other's arms. So I'd love a post-canon continuation of that as their relationship develops, or is fully established.
I liked Andrew as a character so no bashing of him please, and it's fine to have Mia/Andrew's unromantic engagement happening in the background or to show them amicably breaking up. Also happy for Clarisse/Joe to be in the background, or for Lilly to visit again. Or cute appearances by Fat Louie the cat or Maurice the dog!
(I don't think it's actually stated in the films so it's easy to miss, but Mia is a vegetarian - during the state banquet in the first film, when everyone else is served meat, she has a stuffed pepper.)
Franklin "FDR" Foster/Tuck Hansen
Genres: Sweet, Sour
I love these two and the dynamic they have: working smoothly together, protecting each other in danger, happily declaring their love for each other, bantering, hanging out. They're deeply competitive but deeply loyal, though there's also a fragility to their friendship. They're such different people - smooth, flirty FDR who hides his angsty past, and earnest, romantic Tuck who's longing for love but doesn't know how to find it - but they have such an easy rapport and genuinely like each other. (Except when they don't.)
When do their declarations of platonic love turn to romantic ones - and do they even notice that change happening? Maybe they mutually pine for a while, or maybe they're already casually having sex before they realise they have romantic feelings - or the intimacy of a dubcon scenario pushes them to confess. Or show me what they're like as an established relationship!
Being spies, they're required to do some dark things - killing, lying, stealing - and that puts them in a bubble together, both because they can't share those secrets and because others might not understand if they did. The fact that they were both so relaxed about surveilling Lauren (and each other) suggests they're not on the same page as most people - but they are on the same page as each other. I'm fine with you acknowledging that, as a "they're fucked up in the same way, and therefore perfect together" type thing, but you're also free to ignore that thread and keep it light - this canon isn't a serious examination of what espionage does to the soul, it's a fun comedy.
Noodle & Willy Wonka
Genres: Sweet, Sour
Their friendship is adorable. I love the joy and support they bring to each other's lives. And despite the age difference, that exchange is mutual, and I love how that adds to the dynamic. At 22, Wonka is a young man embarking on his career, confident in his chocolatier skills and brimming with optimism - but he's also illiterate, somewhat vulnerable, and very much missing his mother. At 14, Noodle still has a childlike yearning to be mothered - but she's weary beyond her years, resigned to the harsh realities of life, and steadily self-assured. That combination of her teaching him to read as he teaches her to hope is so interesting and so sweet. And then there's the more equitable interactions of them working together to achieve his dream. I love the magical realism of Wonka's chocolates - and the contrast between this calm and practical young girl, and this bonkers and whimsical adult man! Such a cosy and fantastical film.

Narrative Prompts
- Banter as they eat together at Oxford, maybe in the college refectory.
- Simon doesn't have much of a family to go home to. Maybe Anthony tries to cheer him up during a birthday meal - or invites him to the Bridgerton home, with its family meals and boxes of candies.
- Eating dinner together at their club.
- They're both invited to a society dinner at someone else's mansion, but they're more interested in each other than the other guests.
- Bridgerton isn't the most historically accurate, but they probably had foods then that seem weird to us now. Or maybe a food that's common and normal to us now was new and weird to them back then!
- A night of drinking leads to a confession of feelings - or them tumbling into bed together.
Visual Prompts
- Sharing a drink at their club - or in private.
- Eating gooseberry pie together.
- Holding hands, one touching the other's thigh, or doing another affectionate thing under the table while eating.
- One of them wiping a smear of food from the other's lip.
- One of them eating a phallic food in a deliberately scandalous manner.
Narrative Prompts
- Do the Atreides throw fancy banquets? Or provide lavish buffets at dances? Maybe Paul urges Duncan to sample the food with him - even if Duncan is technically there as a bodyguard? Or Paul decides he's going to confess his feelings - and gets a bit drunk to give himself courage? Maybe Duncan teases Paul and urges him away from any alcohol...
- Or maybe the Atreides soldiers throw raucous parties in the barracks - and Paul is allowed in as a mascot? Does he enjoy seeing Duncan in this casual context - or getting to sample the more cosy foods on offer?
- Paul wants to sample the local cuisine on Arrakis - so Duncan accompanies him as bodyguard, and they explore street stalls together?
- A relaxed picnic for the two of them, out in the Caladan countryside.
- Does Caladan have any seasonal festivals, with associated food? What about Arrakis? Are they eager to explore the new foods - or does one of them miss the old ones? (Does the other manage to source some for them?)
- Do they still have birthday cakes in this far future? Maybe one of them brings a couple of cupcakes to the training session that day.
- Enjoying Fremen cuisine in an AU where Duncan survives.
Visual Prompts
- Refreshing themselves with some water and/or a snack in a break during a training session.
- Sharing a picnic while seated on a blanket, or stopping for a snack while travelling the Caladan countryside.
- Finding a quiet, cosy corner to eat together during an Atreides party. Or Duncan teasing Paul when he discovers the hiding place where Paul was getting rosycheeked and giggly on some wine...
- Duncan playfully pops a morsel of food into Paul's mouth.
Narrative Prompts
- Does Doric cook wood elf food for the party? Being a druid, she seems like she'd be good at foraging. Does she try to teach Xenk? (Has he already memorised a book on foraging?) Maybe she and Xenk could have a tender moment while picking berries/mushrooms/something.
- Does Xenk cook Thayan food for the party? Or does it make him too sad? Are certain important ingredients difficult to find on the Sword Coast? Does he even know how to cook any Thayan recipes, considering how young he was when he fled Thay? Maybe Doric finds a Thayan recipe book and gifts it to Xenk.
- Captured and put in anti-magic cuffs, one has to help the other eat because they're too injured to feed themselves.
- Sharing a midnight snack after one (or both) of them has a nightmare.
Visual Prompts
- Picking berries together.
- Sitting on a log together, eating food by the campfire.
- Eating a meal and/or drinking together in a tavern.
- Cooking a meal together.
- Eating special seasonal food.

Narrative Prompts
- Does Doric cook wood elf food for the party? Being a druid, she seems like she'd be good at foraging. Does she try to teach Edgin? Maybe they could have a tender moment while picking berries/mushrooms/something.
- Is Edgin a good cook or a bad one? He arguably has some ADHD traits - does he tend to burn food because he gets distracted? Does he hate following recipes and love improvising? Does he experiment with flavours in ways that aren't always successful?
- Captured and put in anti-magic cuffs, one has to help the other eat because they're too injured to feed themselves.
- Sharing a midnight snack after one (or both) of them has a nightmare.

Narrative Prompts
- Is Edgin a good cook or a bad one? He arguably has some ADHD traits - does he tend to burn food because he gets distracted? Does he hate following recipes and love improvising? Does he experiment with flavours in ways that aren't always successful?
- Does Holga only know how to cook potatoes - but in a hundred different ways? Is she a "backseat chef" who grumbles that Edgin is cooking her potatoes wrong? What is Elk Tribe cuisine like?
- Sharing a midnight snack after one (or both) of them has a nightmare.
- How bad was the food in Revel's End? We saw Holga eating a baked potato. Was that mostly what they were given? Or did they get other things? Did they grumble to each other about the food, maybe slipping into angst? Or did Edgin relentlessly try to keep their spirits up?
- What was the first thing they ate after escaping from Revel's End? Was it incredibly satisfying, even if it was a fairly basic meal? Are they both more appreciative of food since then? Did they splash a little cash on a sweet treat, like a pastry or a biscuit? Or was Holga just eager for more potatoes, but in more exciting forms?
- One of them bakes a birthday cake for the other - maybe with Kira's help? Or they share a special meal during a seasonal celebration.
- One of them is injured and the other has to help them eat. (Maybe while they're imprisoned somewhere?)
Visual Prompts
- Sitting on a log together, eating food by the campfire.
- Eating a meal and/or drinking together in a tavern.
- Eating potatoes together in Revel's End.
- One presenting the other with a birthday cake.
- Eating special seasonal food.
Narrative Prompts
- Is Edgin a good cook or a bad one? He arguably has some ADHD traits - does he tend to burn food because he gets distracted? Does he hate following recipes and love improvising? Does he experiment with flavours in ways that aren't always successful?
- Does Xenk cook Thayan food for the party? Or does it make him too sad? Are certain important ingredients difficult to find on the Sword Coast?
Narrative Prompts
- Edgin and Zia's money troubles seem like they'd impact their food. Is Zia good at making tasty meals from limited ingredients? Does she have a vegetable garden to supplement their food? Does she learn to bake so she can supply them with tasty treats at low cost? Does Xenk's extra money mean they can indulge a little bit?
- Is Edgin a good cook or a bad one? He arguably has some ADHD traits - does he tend to burn food because he gets distracted? Does he hate following recipes and love improvising? Does he experiment with flavours in ways that aren't always successful?
- Does Xenk cook Thayan food for them all? Or does it make him too sad? Are certain important ingredients difficult to find on the Sword Coast? Does he even know how to cook any Thayan recipes, considering how young he was when he fled Thay? Maybe Edgin and/or Zia find a Thayan recipe book and gift it to Xenk.
- Sharing a midnight snack after one (or more) of them has a nightmare.
- One of them is sick/injured and the others have to help them eat.
Visual Prompts
- Cooking together at the cottage.
- Eating together at the dining table.
- Presenting one of them with a birthday cake.
- Picking vegetables together.
- Eating special seasonal food.
Narrative Prompts
- Does Holga only know how to cook potatoes - but in a hundred different ways? Is she a "backseat chef" who grumbles that Xenk is cooking her potatoes wrong? Or does he surprise her with his complete focus and dedication to getting them perfect? What is Elk Tribe cuisine like?
- Does Xenk cook Thayan food for the party? Or does it make him too sad? Are certain important ingredients difficult to find on the Sword Coast? Does he even know how to cook any Thayan recipes, considering how young he was when he fled Thay? Maybe Holga finds a Thayan recipe book and gifts it to Xenk.
- Running low on supplies and/or visiting a village with supply problems results in a Quest for Potatoes.
- Sharing a midnight snack after one (or both) of them has a nightmare.
Visual Prompts
- Sitting on a log together, eating food by the campfire.
- Eating a meal and/or drinking together in a tavern.
- Chopping vegetables together, maybe showing off their knife skills.
- Eating special seasonal food.
Narrative Prompts
- After spending two years in a palace, does Kira have to adjust to eating homecooked meals? Does Xenk try and teach her to cook? (Or did she learn before Korinn's Keep, while they were living life on the road?)
- Does Xenk cook Thayan food for the party? Or does it make him too sad? Are certain important ingredients difficult to find on the Sword Coast? Does he even know how to cook any Thayan recipes, considering how young he was when he fled Thay? Maybe Kira finds a Thayan recipe book and gifts it to Xenk.
- Kira requests Xenk's help in baking a surprise birthday cake for Edgin or Holga.
- Xenk ends up chaperoning Kira as they explore a busy market or food festival, checking out the different food stalls together. Does he resist buying any treats for himself, but end up spoiling Kira a little? Does she urge him to try some fun foods that he's always abstemiously ignored before?
Visual Prompts
- Sitting on a log together, eating food by the campfire.
- Eating a meal together in a tavern.
- Picking berries together.
- Eating special seasonal food.
Narrative Prompts
- Does Doric cook wood elf food for the party? Being a druid, she seems like she'd be good at foraging. Does she try to teach Simon? Maybe they could have a tender moment while picking berries/mushrooms/something.
- Simon's a half-elf. Did he learn to cook human or elven food - or both? Does he tend to have mishaps in the kitchen? The prestidigitation cantrip lets him heat, cool or flavour objects - is that something he makes use of? I headcanon that he keeps a lot of the party's food supplies and cooking utensils in his bag of holding. Does that ever result in funny moments?
- Sharing a midnight snack after one (or both) of them has a nightmare.
- Captured and put in anti-magic cuffs, one has to help the other eat because they're too injured to feed themselves.
Visual Prompts
- Sitting on a log together, eating food by the campfire.
- Eating a meal and/or drinking together in a tavern.
- Picking berries together.
- One presenting the other with a birthday cake.
- Eating special seasonal food.
Narrative Prompts
- Simon's a half-elf. Did he learn to cook human or elven food - or both? Does he tend to have mishaps in the kitchen? The prestidigitation cantrip lets him heat, cool or flavour objects - is that something he makes use of? I headcanon that he keeps a lot of the party's food supplies and cooking utensils in his bag of holding. Does that ever result in funny moments?
- Is Edgin a good cook or a bad one? He arguably has some ADHD traits - does he tend to burn food because he gets distracted? Does he hate following recipes and love improvising? Does he experiment with flavours in ways that aren't always successful?
- Captured and put in anti-magic cuffs, one has to help the other eat because they're too injured to feed themselves.
- Sharing a midnight snack after one (or both) of them has a nightmare.
- After eating a messy food, Simon's got sauce smeared around his mouth; Edgin wipes it away with his thumb.
Visual Prompts
- Sitting on a log together, eating food by the campfire.
- Eating a meal and/or drinking together in a tavern.
- One presenting the other with a birthday cake.
- Eating special seasonal food.
Narrative Prompts

Is she a "backseat chef" who grumbles that the others are cooking her potatoes wrong? What is Elk Tribe cuisine like?
- Does Doric cook wood elf food for the party? Being a druid, she seems like she'd be good at foraging. Does she try to teach any of them? Maybe they have a tender moment while picking berries/mushrooms/something... or maybe a funny moment.

- Does Xenk cook Thayan food for the party? Or does it make him too sad? Are certain important ingredients difficult to find on the Sword Coast? Does he even know how to cook any Thayan recipes, considering how young he was when he fled Thay? Maybe the party find a Thayan recipe book and gift it to Xenk.
- What kinds of celebratory foods do they eat in Faerun? What do they eat for their version of Christmas, etc? Maybe they visit a festival and get excited by the different food stalls. Maybe they bake a cake for one party member's birthday.
Visual Prompts
- Laughing and talking as they all eat, sitting around a campfire - or at a tavern table.
- Preparing food together, doing the different tasks (e.g. bringing foraged berries, chopping vegetables, stirring the stew, tasting a spoonful, etc)
- Sampling the different foods at a festival. Who likes it, who doesn't?
- Presenting one party member with a birthday cake.
Narrative Prompts
- After a tiring day of mishaps, they retreat to the cosy privacy of their apartment - even if the only safe meal is some PB&J sandwiches. Or maybe they order takeout?
- Or maybe they tempt fate and attempt to cook a meal together... But hey, at least the unburned bits are nice.
- They decide to have a picnic in the apartment, on the theory they can't get rained on or have any unexpected interlopers.
- Since giving up her good luck, Ashley's noticed that her fortune cookies sound much more ominous - but maybe taste better than ever.
- A romantic date at a restaurant - the food is delicious, but do things keep going wrong?
- Jake presents Ashley with a homemade birthday cake - which might be wonky, lumpy, or even weirdly flavoured... but is definitely made with love.
Visual Prompts
- Cuddling on the sofa together as they share a pizza.
- Drinking a milkshake with two straws.
- Laughing as they get covered in flour during a baking session.
- Jake wipes a smear of food from the corner of Ashley's mouth.
Narrative Prompts
- A cosy night in, eating takeout (or leftovers) together as they chat or watch TV or...
- Is it a Hardin tradition to make a gingerbread house every Christmas - and for it to spectacularly fall apart just before it's finished?
- Maybe now that Katy has good luck, she keeps being given extra fries or free sides whenever they go out to eat. Or even entire takeout meals they didn't order being delivered - and if the driver won't take it back, well, they can't let it go cold, can they?
- Katy helps Jake bake a birthday cake for Ashley - or attempt to.
Visual Prompts
- Drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows.
- Sharing a pizza as they watch a movie on the sofa together.
- Eating spaghetti bolognese/meatballs with sauce/some kind of messy food - and accidentally splattering themselves.
- Both of them covered in flour after a messy baking session.
Narrative Prompts
- Planning a fancy dinner party, fondly chatting as they enjoy the food... or giggling as they savour a few leftovers when all the guests have gone home.
- What did they eat at their wedding reception - or for breakfast on their first morning as a married couple?
- Sitting close and sharing little touches during a dinner or cosy party with their families.
- During their time in Europe, we see them sitting on a blanket together as Amy draws Laurie - did they ever have any picnics too?
- Maybe Amy thought Laurie wasn't paying much attention to her during their childhood - but he remembers every single one of her favourite foods. (And she definitely remembers his.)
- Laurie presenting Amy with breakfast in bed for her birthday - or because she's resting due to being very pregnant.
Visual Prompts
- Smiling fondly and clinking glasses as they share a toast - maybe on their anniversary?
- Eating a picnic together.
- Holding hands under the table at a fancy dinner party.
- Laurie pops a morsel into Amy's mouth - or grins as he leans in with one, while she pretends to disapprove.
Narrative Prompts
- Without refrigeration, their food would change with the seasons. Are they excited for the first strawberries? Trying to think of yet more ways to use up a bumper crop of apples? Simply glad to enjoy a hearty stew on a cold autumn day? Do they sneak some fresh gingerbread cookies up to the attic to snack on while they practise Jo's newest play?
- The Laurences throw a fancy ball - and Laurie insists that all the sisters get to enjoy the refreshments on offer. (Little cakes? Candies? Other delicacies? Lemonade? Even wine?)
- Another picnic, whether at the seaside or in a meadow - or in the attic, because a storm or heavy snow means they can't go outside.
- Jo and Laurie sneaked some wine at Meg's wedding - were they not supposed to? Was there an earlier time they did the same? Did Amy threaten to tell on them unless they gave her a sip? Did Meg verbally disapprove - and then join in? Was Beth happy to have a taste - or just to huddle in on the secrecy? Or maybe it wasn't wine at all - maybe they sneaked a tart, or some candies, or...
- Warming up with mugs of a hot drink after a session of ice skating or building a snowman - or even a snowball fight.
- While helping Hannah in the kitchen, the sisters also rope Laurie into the work... and the mischief.
Visual Prompts
- Another cosy family meal around the dinner table, whether an ordinary one or a special celebration.
- Snacking on juicy apples or candies or some other treat during their "gentlemen's club" meeting, or as they sit around and listen to Jo's latest story/script.
- Carefully sharing out - or squabbling over - slices of a freshly baked pie from Hannah.
- Cuddling and lazing around as they eat a picnic on a blanket.
- Laurie presenting each of the sisters with a candycane as part of their Christmas fun.
Narrative Prompts
- As part of getting to know each other, Elizabeth shares her favourite dish with Marjorie - or vice versa.
- Elizabeth helping Marjorie to sneak a little treat from the kitchens. Is it a juicy apple? A fresh tart? A little chunk of marzipan?
- A cosy family meal in private, chatting and savouring the time (and food) together. Maybe their first dinner together after being reunited?
- They're real royals - but that doesn't mean they can't playfully overact their manners during a banquet, as if it was a makebelieve princess tea party.
Visual Prompts
- Giggling as they sneak scraps to the dog under the table during a banquet.
- Cuddling while eating a picnic.
- Chatting fondly during a private family meal.
- Hiding in a corner to eat a stolen tart together.
Narrative Prompts
- Enjoying the food and sneaking fond moments while holding court at a lavish banquet.
- Sharing breakfast in their private rooms after a night together.
- Does Elizabeth get homesick for some food that's not so commonly made in Scotland - and Robert secretly procures some for her? Or is she quietly excited to try all of these traditional Scottish foods she's never had before - especially because of how pleased Robert is to share them with her?
- Chatting and munching on apples as they pause for a rest during one of their journeys through the countryside.
- Finding a quiet glade to enjoy a private picnic together, away from the pressures of their royal lives.
Visual Prompts
- Smiling, chatting, and/or holding hands as they enjoy a banquet.
- Getting giggly together on some wine.
- Snacking as they cuddle in front of a roaring fire.
- Elizabeth wipes a smear of food from Robert's mouth with her thumb.
Narrative Prompts
- According to Joe, Nicholas is a gourmet cook, and I love him putting his blue-striped apron on and cooking up a storm. So, Nicholas cooking something delicious for Mia? And them eating it together.
- Or maybe they make something together! Is Mia a good cook? Does her clumsiness result in them laughing together? Maybe Nicholas could teach her... possibly with some hands-on tips, pressing close behind, like he did with archery.
- What kind of strange and interesting pear-based foods do they serve at a banquet/ball/garden party? Or other kinds of food? Give me a glimpse of Genovian cuisine.
- What about more private occasions? Eating birthday cake? Or maybe it's Christmas! Europe has so many different Christmas foods. What are the Genovian traditions - biscuits, cakes, special drinks?
- Or just a nice, normal everyday meal. Mia and Nicholas getting to relax as they eat in private, away from the eyes of the press and the public. Could be breakfast, before the demands of the day start; a lunch snatched between public engagements; or an evening meal, after a long and tiring day. Or maybe they get the chance to have a romantic candlelit dinner?
- One of Nicholas's "secrets" is that he sometimes puts chocolate milk on his cereal - maybe one morning they could both do that? Maybe Mia could bring him some cereal with chocolate milk when he's sick and stuck in bed. Or she could bring him soup - or he could do the same for her, when she's sick.
- After eating a messy food, Mia's got sauce smeared around her mouth; Nicholas wipes it away with his thumb.
Visual Prompts
- Nicholas in his blue-striped apron, preparing food for Mia.
- Mia and Nicholas happily preparing food together.
- Or maybe laughing as they get distracted by throwing flour at each other!
- Nicholas pressing close behind Mia, giving her a hands-on lesson in how to use a knife safely/knead bread/whatever.
Narrative Prompts
- Can either of them cook? Does FDR claim to be a great cook - but when he finally agrees to prove it, Tuck discovers he's secretly terrible? Maybe FDR lives off takeout, so Tuck assumes he can't cook - but he can? Maybe Tuck's quietly confident about his skills, but FDR keeps bantering - until he actually tries something Tuck cooked?
- Eating together during another visit to Nana Foster's house.
- Sharing room service in a hotel room while waiting to begin a mission. Or eating a fancy meal at an event while undercover. Or sampling the local street food. Or eating together during a long stakeout, sitting inside a surveillance truck.
- A night of drinking leads to them making out - or falling into bed together.
Visual Prompts
- Sitting on FDR's sofa, eating popcorn as they watch a film.
- FDR stealing food from Tuck's plate.
- Sharing food while captured, locked in a cell together.
- Eating together while sitting in a surveillance truck.
- FDR eating a banana in a deliberately sexual manner, as Tuck tries not to react.
Noodle & Willy Wonka

Narrative Prompts
- Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!! Whether Wonka shares one of the types we've already seen in the film, or Noodle helps him invent a whole new one, I'd love some fluff as they have fun with his passion.
- Or maybe a quieter, more melancholy moment as Wonka tries to cheer Noodle up with a chocolate while they're still prisoners in the boarding house.
- Once Wonka has his new factory up and running, he gives Noodle a tour - and encourages her to taste all of the wonders they pass.
- Or what about more ordinary meals? Maybe they keep warm in the boarding house with a stew. Or they sample some street food once they're free. Or now that Wonka has reunited Noodle with her mother, he's invited to a cosy family meal?
- Or special meals! Cake to celebrate a birthday? Gingerbread for Christmas? Turkey for Thanksgiving? Or a (real or fictional) tradition Wonka picked up on his travels around the globe? Do they get to savour the eating of it - or giggle through the making of it?
Visual Prompts
- Wonka plying Noodle with his chocolates.
- Building a gingerbread house together.
- Both of them covered in flour and/or smears of chocolate after a messy baking session - or a food fight.
- A relaxing picnic in a park, maybe surrounded by spring flowers or falling autumn leaves.
- Wonka joins Noodle for a cosy family meal with her mother.
