I love them both as a sweet couple and as simmering enemies with deeper feelings. Wounded leader Ekko, so sharp but so caring, driven by a need to protect - and to damage Jinx as a result. Volatile Jinx, shattered by her own failures, cackling as she destroys all he values - and all she values too, if only it didn't hurt so much to believe in it. There's a tension between them, but the shadow of that other world opens up newer, gentler possibilities for them. Ekko's seen what she could have been, and that lets him see what she could become - and that taste of tenderness gives Jinx hope when she needs it most. I'd love to see them grow(ing) towards softness together - or trying to ignore the frisson as the weather pushes them together.

But there was also a softer, genuine side to that support - maybe in an AU they could've held onto that tenderness as they grew into their new roles, or maybe you could show me a missing scene where the temperature results in something cute or vulnerable... or smutty.

I love Jayce with both Mel and Viktor, and I don't see why I - or he - should have to choose. The plot isn't kind to either relationship, but maybe with all three of them together they could find a better path, establishing a support and trust that steadies them all. I love their individual personalities - charming and determined Jayce, goodhearted but oblivious, his earnest efforts repeatedly tripping into darkness; polished politician Mel, her own good aims writhing in the shadow of all her mother's manipulations, unaware of her other wondrous heritage; sharp-tongued Viktor, who's struggled against his body and his own obscurity to achieve great things, but has never conquered the yearning fears in his mind - and the I love the dynamics between each side of the triangle. But I really think that combining all three would create a new and interesting dynamic, something even greater than the sum of its parts - their unique skills blending to support each other's fragilities in ways they didn't manage to do in canon. Please make this a stable triad, rather than a V - but feel free to ignore the plot in favour of some cuteness, hurt/comfort, or filthy smut.

I love these two as lab partners, and all the tropes that entails: late nights working closely together, deep intellectual discussion, witnessing each other's brilliance up close, the little moments of the daily routine, the mundane and the magical mixed together. Their work (and Jayce) is lauded by the public - but the reality of its creation is a more private experience. In some ways there's a quiet intimacy to it all. But I also love the more transcendent aspects - they're bound together by destiny, the two of them so narratively entwined. "In all timelines, in all possibilities... Only you can show me this." They're inevitable, they're parallels, they're each other's salvation. And in the end it all comes down to Jayce's earnest wish to be with Viktor again, as partners. Lab partner era would probably suit this theme better, but maybe they encounter some temperature shenanigans as soulmates travelling between universes post-canon? (I love Mel too so no bashing her please!)

I was sold on these two from that very first hug. Mainly looking for something set just before canon, or maybe early in the first film, once Duncan returns from the Fremen - before everything goes to shit on Arrakis. Simon is awkward and sulky in the face of this, even though he's perfectly willing to trust Edgin and follow his lead in other areas - maybe Simon is pining, and can't let himself believe that Edgin cares about him, or is worried about opening his heart? And maybe Edgin doesn't want to be the one to make a move because of the age difference. But I think they'd have a really fun relationship.

These two have such a great arc, from initial attraction to simmering rivalry to cautious frenemies to sincere lovers. Mia is clumsy and caring and earnest, so determined to do what's right. Nicholas is flirty and charming and a polished noble, but also happy to slip on an apron and cook up a storm. His uncle (and father figure) manipulated him into chasing the crown, and there's delicious angst in that, but Nicholas was always guided more by duty - and honest about Mia's good qualities. Once he saw that Mia would be a great queen (and fell in love) Nicholas had no hesitation in supporting her. They're a perfect match, personally and politically, and such a sweet couple. I love seeing them enjoying the glamour of royal balls, supporting each other through the pressures of royal expectations and press attention, and/or savouring domestic life and sweet intimacies in private.

Chekov is so fucking adorable. I love his earnest enthusiasm, his innocence, and his extreme competency despite his age - and how that fits with Kirk, who's older, more traumatised, and chafes against the rules, but strives to protect his crew. They work so well together, and I really enjoyed how much of Beyond was just the two of them out in the wilds, with a slightly more mature Chekov showing he can handle himself in the field. Would love to see them as a couple, with Kirk's captainly urges to keep people safe translating into him being soft and tender. Or maybe circumstances mean Chekov has to be soft with Kirk?

Pike was the first one to believe in Kirk - and the one who got Kirk to believe in himself. As a captain, and maybe a partner, Pike both challenges and supports Kirk - and Kirk wants his approval, wants to excel, but he's used to rebellion and reckless behaviour and is willing to risk more than other people are comfortable with. There's always a push and pull there, always a tension, but maybe kind and steady Pike can provide something stable that helps Kirk find his feet? And in turn, Kirk would go to any lengths to keep Pike safe.

James T. Kirk/Montgomery "Scotty" Scott

I love that Scotty is almost immediately loyal to Kirk, and that Kirk absolutely relies on him to get things done - even when Scotty's already resigned. And Scotty might complain, but he'll still rush to help him. I love how Scotty swings between almost innocent cheerfulness that turns to grumpiness when he feels unappreciated, and the humorous possibilities of that with his charming, flirty, almost reckless captain. Kirk's a good leader, but he's got trauma lurking beneath the surface, and I think Scotty would be kind with that. And they're both brilliant in their own ways. They could be so good together - and for each other.

I love that Spock is this reserved, logical, controlled figure - but secretly has all this emotion bubbling just beneath the surface. He pairs so well with charming, rebellious, almost reckless Kirk, who struggles to understand and predict Spock despite having such a mind for strategy. They both have so much angst and trauma, though Spock mostly keeps his internal (until he can't) while Kirk wears his externally, and I love to see them comforting and supporting each other. There's respect there even when they disagree - or outright argue - and I love the push and pull of Spock advising Kirk, with Spock wanting the best for him and valiantly trying to steer the unsteerable, while Kirk both values his opinion yet constantly grates against it. They balance each other, yet there's such friction, and it's a great vibe.

Franklin "FDR" Foster/Tuck Hansen

I love these two and the dynamic they have: working smoothly together, protecting each other in danger, happily declaring their love for each other, bantering, hanging out. They're deeply competitive but deeply loyal, though there's also a fragility to their friendship. They're such different people - smooth, flirty FDR who hides his angsty past, and earnest, romantic Tuck who's longing for love but doesn't know how to find it - but they have such an easy rapport and genuinely like each other. (Except when they don't.) Maybe they mutually pine (or are in denial) before they realise their love is romantic as well as platonic?
