forsworn. I requested fic and art for Nothing to Find, and fic only for Graduation and After the Disco. Treats are welcome, including art treats! (I couldn't think of any art prompts for the others that weren't just "idk the main ship kissing I guess"... but if you're inspired by that, or by my narrative prompts, I would love to see it!)
My theme here is speculative fiction MVs with opportunities for worldbuilding (or possibly shipping). Requests include a teenage girl on a roadtrip with a plantman, strange scifi encounters between two lost souls, and the "end credits" of a teen comedy film which unexpectedly swerves genres. I'd love you to expand on or explain any of these tiny canons!

After the Disco - Broken Bells (Album Short Film)

This is such a strange and dreamlike narrative, and I'd love to know what you think is happening here. At the beginning, Oliver sees Helen on the TV, then falls asleep and meets her. Is this all just a dream? More of an I Saw The TV Glow situation? Is it a premonition/prophetic dream? Does Oliver have the ability to astral project, and keeps travelling to other planets in his sleep? Or can he teleport? Or maybe he physically travelled out there and met Helen - maybe space travel is normal in this world, but something went wrong for them here? Maybe he's recovering repressed memories, previously erased by the two guys in the UFO? (Why would they have done that? What are they trying to hide, or prevent?)
And why was Helen on that planet? Her suit is ripped - did she crash there? (Maybe while trying to escape the UFO?) Or maybe she was meant to be on that planet, exploring or surveying it etc, and ran into some other difficulty? Or has she also teleported/astrally projected there? (She and Oliver are definitely there in some physical sense, because they can touch each other, but...) Why does she keep her helmet on so long when he's wandering around without one? Protocol? Habit? Fear that it's dangerous - maybe she isn't human, even if she looks it? And did Oliver and Helen meet due to random happenstance, or were they drawn to each other? Are they soulmates? Tied together by something that happened pre-canon?
Then the UFO turns up on the planet and at Oliver's house. Are both these things happening at the same time? Or did everything on the planet happen before everything at Oliver's house? (Or vice versa?) Was it a coincidence that it arrived just as Oliver/Helen kissed, just as Oliver remembered them kissing... or is their romance forbidden somehow? Is she a fugitive from an oppressive society? (Are they both from the same planet?) And why does the UFO have a dance club inside it? Who are all of these people? Are they prisoners, or partying VIPs? How does Helen get up to the UFO, and which part of the timeline is she from? We see her changing clothes - is this a normal changing room, the one Oliver also used? Or is it for employees - does (or did) Helen work there?
The two guys put a space helmet on Oliver and pump some kind of gas into it, seemingly drugging him. Why? What does it do? If they're using it to control him, are they using it on the other partygoers? Helen wore the same kind of helmet - were they controlling her the same way? The drug seems to make Oliver hallucinate, seeing the blonde woman as Helen - or is she a clone? Are they all clones? Are he and Helen remembering things from previous lives they shared together? But suddenly, Oliver sees the blonde woman as an old woman. Is that what she really looks like? Or do the drugs make you see people as you wish they were, or as the two guys want you to see them? Or are the drugs prematurely aging them - Oliver goes to the changing room, and sees himself as an old man. Are the two UFO guys stealing life energy from the partygoers? Or was Oliver an old man all along? Maybe he's recovered all his memories of a previous life, and is seeing his old form? And, when Helen gets upset and leaves, a bright light shines on her - what's about to happen? Is she going to be punished? Imprisoned? Reeducated?? And is Oliver going to find her in time?
There are so many directions you could take this in. Could be a soft, quiet story about Oliver and Helen exploring that planet, discovering its wonders and falling in love. Could be something strange and mindfucky, about Oliver's dreams and the weird timeline. Could be something dramatic about whatever the UFO guys are doing, or what happens to Helen next. Or what happened to her, or Oliver, or both of them pre-canon. Maybe some hurt/comfort, after Oliver rescues Helen from whatever the light is? I'd love Oliver/Helen to be an aspect of what you create - especially if they get a happy ending - but you're welcome to background that and focus on worldbuilding, even from the POV of the UFO guys. But I'd also love a story all about Oliver and Helen's relationship. You can incorporate smut, but I'm not looking for PWP here. I'm just really curious what you think is, was, and will be happening here!
Graduation - Benny Blanco & Juice WRLD (Music Video)
First of all: the Robotic War! What an unexpected and fascinating twist. I'd love more details about any of the mentions we get of this. How did Greta know it was coming, and why was Hawaii a safe place to be? How badass were The Untouchables, surviving in the wasteland? Did they stick together as just a four, or did they lead a whole faction, establishing a compound in the post-apocalypse? What's it like for them to be God-Queens now? And how did Hailee save humanity? Was she clever, resourceful, determined and lucky - or all of those things, but mostly in the right place at the right time? Or maybe she's secretly a superhero? Is she super strong, impervious to bullets, can she stop time, can she interface with machines? And did she have help from any of the other characters - did she run into Jackson again? Team up with The Untouchables for a bit? Other random classmates? (I'd prefer not to get a story all about Jasper dying, but it's fine for that to be a background event.)
But also: Hailee/Jackson shippiness. I thought the tiny scene of them was adorable, and I'd love something quieter that focuses on them. Cute fluff of their date (and first kiss) at the roller rink? Pre-canon angst as Jackson pines for Hailee at school or while they hang out? Them meeting again post-canon, reconnecting and falling properly in love years later, when Hailee is a massive star? Maybe Jackson was over Hailee by then, but they built a new, mature relationship built on real appreciation? Maybe Jackson was injured helping Hailee fight the robots, leading to some tender hurt/comfort? You can incorporate smut, but I'm not looking for PWP here. And I'm fine with mentions of their breakup as long as they get back together and stay together.
Note: Even though they share a name, I'd prefer if Hailee wasn't actually Hailee Steinfeld, even in an alternate universe - but jokes or references riffing on her real career are fine! Also, this is an MV from 2019 that references an undated future - I kinda like the idea that this was a world that didn't have a covid pandemic, it had the Robotic War instead. (The dates don't have to line up exactly, and you don't need to provide a timeline at all, but I think it'd be interesting.)

Trying on amusingly large hats and sunglasses at a store? Building a sandcastle on a beach, or eating ice cream cones? Sitting in cinema seats, eating popcorn, illuminated by the light of the screen? Lounging on a motel bed together, watching TV? Camping out under the stars? The Plantman trying to talk to actual plants, as the Girl laughs? Is that a piece of him for her to remember him by, a symbol of their connection and their time together? Or is she now turning into a plant too? Did she catch it from him? Or is this a family curse - is the Plantman her father, her brother? (Did she know she might also have the curse?) Or maybe he's just a friend - did she know him when he was human, or did she only meet him after he changed?
I love the road trip theme here, with all the little mundane moments, all the fun they're having. Some missing scenes would be great: what else did they get up to? Visiting an arcade, a day at the beach, stopping at a weird roadside museum? (See art prompts for more ideas.) Were they sleeping in the plantcar, or did they have to somehow book into a motel? Did they ever have trouble with the authorities because of Plantman being a plant, or is this a magical realism world where that's unusual but accepted? And did they know (or suspect) that the Plantman was dying? Was this meant to be a last hurrah, one final summer of fun together? Or did they set off with no idea of the tragic ending in store? Maybe the Girl met the Plantman when he was already travelling, and decided to skip town with him, seeking to escape an unhappy home?
No sexual content or romance here, thanks, but intense platonic feelings are welcome. You could set it pre-canon, showing how the Girl knows the Plantman, or do something while they're on the road. Or post-canon: what does the Girl do next? I'm fine with the Girl believing that she's dying, but I don't actually want to see that happen. Maybe she manages to find a cure? Even get the Plantman to return? Maybe she meets other Plantpeople - even ones growing different plant species? I just think this MV is a great little canon for worldbuilding and/or cute road trip tropes.
Note: None of the characters are named, so I guess you'll have to name them. The Girl's actress is named Sophia, and I'd prefer you not use that specific name, but another one beginning with S would make it easy to keep track - Sam, Spencer, Sadie, Saffi, Savannah... Following the same logic, you could give the Plantman a name beginning with P, like Peter or Paul, but I'm fine with his name beginning with another letter - especially if he wasn't always a Plantman.
