Hanahaki Flash 2025

Thank you for anything you create! My username is [archiveofourown.org profile] forsworn and I requested fic or art in six fandoms. Treats are welcome!

I prefer hanahaki that is chronic rather than guaranteed to be fatal, but fine if very serious symptoms have a chance of death. Some of my requests are geared more to the "must be requited to be cured" version and some to the "only needs to express the feelings to be cured" version, some towards either, so use what works for the characters' situation. I picked the "Coughing up all remaining petals in one big coughing fit when hanahaki is cured" tag for most of these but I'm also fine with it simply disappearing when cured.

  • Kidfic, of the canon character being de-aged type. Kidfic, of the having and caring for children type. Pregnancy, including mpreg. Pregnancy fluff: anticipating child, preparing, taking care of pregnant partner. Pregnancy angst: worrying about being a good parent, worrying about the birth (esp for mpreg). Pregnancy hurt/comfort: morning sickness, pampering partner.
  • Forced proximity: stuck in a prison cell together, only one bed, trapped by a cave-in, hiding in a closet, handcuffed together, magic spell, etc.
  • Sparring and combat tutoring. Character A defending character B with character B's weapon.

  • All of which amounts to: show me your style! Create what you're inspired to create, in the style that feels natural to you.

Art DNWs:
  • This is technically already covered by the "sex while in animal form" DNW above, but to be specific about how it applies to art: no furry/anthro porn please. (But non-porn furry/anthro is welcome!)

Hurt/Comfort Likes:
  • Emotional hurt/comfort. Physical hurt/comfort. Whump. Mild hurt/comfort.
  • Nightmares. Flashbacks. Crying. Staying with character B as they fall asleep.
  • Impact bruises. Being manually choked. Twisted ankles.
  • Stab wounds. Arrow wounds. Pulling the arrow out. Nosebleeds as fight injury. Grazes and abrasions.
  • Magical torture, psychic torture, and other kinds of pain inflicted without harming the body.
  • Bedside vigils. Holding injured character close. Carrying or supporting someone who can't walk. Character A catching character B as they collapse (even if character A isn't strong enough to hold them up and just helps slow their descent to the floor). Helping injured character undress, remove armour, etc.
  • Seasickness. Morning sickness. "Oh no, that thing you just ate was poisoned." Vomiting in the context of hurt/comfort - the loss of control, the pain of throwing up, the vulnerability of being seen that way - whether due to nausea, induced by emetic, or induced by fingers (theirs or partner's). Not interested in the vomit itself, though fine to mention it looks/smells/tastes gross.
  • Struggling through sex pollen/an omegaverse heat/etc without having sex, only giving non-sexual comfort for the symptoms.
  • Premature ejaculation. Erectile dysfunction. Shame over sexual desires.
  • The awkward vulnerability of comfort requiring a new level of intimacy.
  • Stern/gruff characters making tiny gestures as a comforter and the comfortee understanding that significance. A comforter understanding when the comfortee only wants tiny gestures, and the comfortee being grateful for that understanding. People who are comfortable with each other giving and accepting large amounts of comfort.
  • Stoic hurt characters refusing to break down. Stoic hurt characters letting it all out.
  • I love both the hurt and comfort parts of the equation! Go heavy on one part and less on the other, or have an equal mix of both.

Smut Likes:
  • Positions: Missionary, riding and other face-to-face positions, for eye contact and/or lots of kissing. But spooning pairs well with gentle sex, and oral fingering's probably more easily done from behind.
  • Locations: In bed, in a chair, against a wall, on the floor... In the bedroom, in the living room, in an alley, in a forest, in a dungeon, on a ship, on the victorious battlefield... Basically anywhere? Yeah.
  • Acts: Anal sex, including het anal. Vaginal sex. Loss of virginity. First time bottoming. Pegging. Strap-ons. Deepthroating. Oral fingering. Kissing during sex. Breastplay (fondling, gently squeezing, kissing). Nippleplay (pinching, kissing, licking).
  • Moods: Gentle sex. Tender sex. Fluffy sex. Hurt/comfort sex. Sex with lots of feelings. Vulnerability and trust.
  • BDSM: Dom/sub. Bondage. Pinned down. Kneeling. Collaring. Praise kink. Orgasm delay/edging. BDSM AUs.
  • Dubcon: Sex pollen. Fuck or die. Sex caused by magic or to perform magic. Pining during dubcon. (Whether they admit their feelings during, after, or not at all.) Having to trust each other with the unexpected intimacy. Worrying about being so vulnerable but being kind to each other and coming out stronger on the other side.
  • Size kink and stretching: Big cocks. Painful penetration. Lots of foreplay/prep, slow and gentle penetration so it isn't painful. Large object insertions. Sounding.
  • Omegaverse: Alpha/Omega. Painfully big alpha dicks. Knotting. Sexy pheromones. Pheromones that communicate fear, or anger, or other emotions. Alpha pheromones that make the omega feel safe, or protected, or calm.
  • An undercover situation requires them to fuck while being watched, but they successfully fake it - except the kisses, the touches, the proximity, and the "is it okay if I..." questions whispered right in each other's ears were all very real. And some of those moans didn't sound fake. Either they're so wound up they fuck for real once they're no longer being watched, or the feelings keep simmering until they boil over later.

Ekko/Jinx

These two are - and have been, and could be - so many things to each other. Childhood friends who saw their worlds fall apart, each innocently responsible for part of that. Adult enemies, sharp and bitter, their mutual scars only adding to the intensity between them. In another world, a tender couple, still scarred but brimming with a soft hope. And at last, in this world, a gentle offer of an olive branch in the deepest moment of despair leads to an earnest alliance - and, if not that same hope, then the hope of hope.

I love them both as a sweet couple and as simmering enemies. Wounded leader Ekko, so sharp but so caring, driven by a need to protect - and to damage Jinx as a result. Volatile Jinx, shattered by her own failures, cackling as she destroys all he values - and all she values too, if only it didn't hurt so much to believe in it. There's a tension between them, rising to a peak in their fight on the bridge - and maybe a quieter encounter in an alley would simmer with a more intimate tension.

But the shadow of that other world - and Ekko's heroic decision to sacrifice the happiness he could have had - opens up newer, gentler possibilities for them. He's seen what she could have been, and that lets him see what she could become. In the depths of her self-blame, Jinx needs that taste of tenderness and all the good it represents, even if she can't (yet) believe she's worthy. And maybe Ekko needs it too, needs to reclaim all that he surrendered, still aching for that innocent sweetness - maybe wanting to be that unscarred version of himself, even as he takes on ever more burdens.

Some of these tags are with Jinx as the sufferer in mind, but I'm fine with either way around.

Jayce Talis/Mel Medarda/Viktor

I love Jayce with both Mel and Viktor, and I don't see why I - or he - should have to choose. The plot isn't kind to either relationship, but maybe with all three of them together they could find a better path, establishing a support and trust that steadies them all. I love their individual personalities - charming and determined Jayce, goodhearted but oblivious, his earnest efforts repeatedly tripping into darkness; polished politician Mel, her own good aims writhing in the shadow of all her mother's manipulations, unaware of her other wondrous heritage; sharp-tongued Viktor, who's struggled against his body and his own obscurity to achieve great things, but has never conquered the yearning fears in his mind - and the I love the dynamics between each side of the triangle. But I really think that combining all three would create a new and interesting dynamic, something even greater than the sum of its parts - their unique skills blending to support each other's fragilities in ways they didn't manage to do in canon. I'd prefer this as a stable triad, rather than a V, but I'm fine if the work starts with Jayce/Mel already a couple.

Viktor already canonically coughs up blood! It's too perfect! But I did pick a tag or two with Jayce as the sufferer in mind, and I think any of them could catch it due to magic shenanigans. Happy for any/multiple/all of them to be afflicted!

Jayce Talis/Viktor

I was shipping these guys right from episode two. I love them as lab partners, and all the tropes that entails: late nights working closely together, deep intellectual discussion, witnessing each other's brilliance up close, the little moments of the daily routine, the mundane and the magical mixed together. Their work (and Jayce) is lauded by the public - but the reality of its creation is a more private experience. In some ways there's a quiet intimacy to it all.

But I also love the more transcendent aspects - they're bound together by destiny, the two of them so narratively entwined. "In all timelines, in all possibilities... Only you can show me this." They're inevitable, they're parallels, they're each other's salvation. And in the end it all comes down to Jayce's earnest wish to be with Viktor again, as partners.

(I love Mel too so please be kind to her - if you include her at all, which you don't have to.)

Viktor already canonically coughs up blood! It's too perfect! But I did pick a tag or two with Jayce as the sufferer in mind. I think it'd work well either way around.

Jinx & Vi

These two have such a complicated and fascinating relationship. From little Powder desperate to earn Vi's approval, to Jinx's anger over being rejected, to the rollercoaster of enmity and yearning, to the hesitant truce for Warwick's sake... They have such, such deep feelings for each other, and neither one can quite let go of them - or stop hurting their sister. And their relationship is so tangled with how they feel about themselves and their own actions - especially Jinx, so petulant in her self-confidence, desperate to be loved but so volatile in her reactions, hating the destruction she's caused but so convinced there's no forgiveness that she can't repent either. I would love them to make up and hesitantly build a softer relationship (Jinx is totally still alive, damnit!) but I also love the angst of them aching for each other. It's just such a meaty relationship.

The guilty feelings tag is more aimed at Jinx, but I can see either/both of them having platonic hanahaki due to their estranged relationship.

Simon Basset/Anthony Bridgerton

There's clearly such a deep connection between these two. In their first scene, Simon's grumpy mood disappears the moment he sees Anthony again, and there's such a sense of fondness between them. I love that Simon's response to Daphne's line that one should marry their dearest friend is: "Are you suggesting I marry your brother?" But Anthony and Simon struggle to express their feelings and open up about their problems, leading to various punchups between them - is that simply about inarticulated frustration, or is there a subconscious desire for physical contact?

Despite his charm and rakish attitude, Simon resents being vulnerable - and uses his sharp tongue as a shield. Protective Anthony is more open despite his trauma, but struggles with the burden of responsibility vs his urge to indulge - though he once had a more humourous, even prank-loving side, which Simon alone seems familiar with. There's a complete contrast with their family situations - Anthony and the fond bustle of all his siblings, only child Simon rejected by his father - and I think that could lead them to different, interesting outlooks on (and hopes for) personal relationships. But they're both rakes, happily indulging their forbidden desires, and while others might disapprove maybe Simon and Anthony would celebrate that commonality.

But there are some desires too taboo even for a rake. Even in the Bridgerton universe, the Regency time period means homosexual love and attraction are completely forbidden. I can see that resulting in a certain amount of internalised homophobia - a reluctance to admit even to themselves what they're feeling, a belief that it's something that shouldn't be indulged, that it's something shamefully unmanly, even dangerous. (And they wouldn't be entirely wrong - they could be hanged if society found out; I'm fine with that worry being present, with that vague threat hanging over them, but please don't out them or have anyone actually threaten them.) Maybe all of that combines with a more standard hesitation about intimacy, and results in them mutually pining - even for years. Or maybe, as they're already scandalising polite society, they don't see the problem as long as their relationship stays secret, and happily hop into bed. But that need for secrecy, the fact they can only be their true selves in private, could also lend a certain intensity and closeness to the whole thing.

You could set this during their Oxford days, or later when they're rakes about town, or a no-wives AU. I enjoy this both as a romance and as friends-with-benefits who accidentally fall in love.

Happy for either/both of them to be afflicted!

Paul Atreides/Duncan Idaho

I was sold on these two from that very first hug. Their power dynamic is complicated and intriguing: Duncan is older, stronger, a more skilled warrior, and Paul's combat tutor - but Paul is the heir to House Atreides and capable of using the Voice. And there seems such genuine affection between them. I love how Duncan teases Paul, but also calls him "my boy"... And this exchange: "Can I trust you with something?" "Always. You know that." Omfg. I am all about the trust, loyalty and duty here - on both sides.

And Duncan really is so loyal, so devoted, willing to sacrifice everything for House Atreides. He's a deeply honourable man, dependable and trustworthy enough to be Paul's confidante - enough to be sent to the Fremen, where he develops so much respect for their way of life. With Paul, he's mostly playful, but he does have a serious side - in official meetings, and in that moment Paul prophesies his death. But maybe all of that honour and strong spirit leads him to repressing his feelings, determined to protect Paul from any pain he might accidentally inflict? Because he has twenty years of life experience on Paul, with all the scars that grants - physical and emotional.

I love how soft and sweet Paul can be - his teases with Duncan, openly hugging Thufir - but I also enjoy his harder, harsher aspects. He's determined, a survivor, even ruthless - he literally doesn't blink at that hunter-seeker, his whimpers at the painbox transmute to a steely defiance. And Paul takes his duties seriously, following Leto's example as a protective leader - but being the ducal heir also gives Paul an edge of pride, even petulance, so offended by the Reverend Mother dismissing Jessica, of forcing him to kneel. And he still has a little teenage moodiness, telling Gurney he doesn't feel like sparring. With Duncan, my main focus for Paul is him being playful and/or a serious student, and I'm happy for you to stick to that side of him - but I do love the nuance of his flaws if you want to include those.

The two of them have such a beautiful bond - but there are definite obstacles to a relationship between them. No doubt Paul is expected to make a political match, and Duncan hardly fits the image of a polished concubine. What kind of relationship do they, can they, hope to have? Maybe it starts as a mentorship-with-benefits thing, Duncan giving Paul a way to explore sex with someone he trusts - and then feelings develop. Or maybe they hide their feelings, mutually pining, convinced that the other one wouldn't (shouldn't) be interested in them. Maybe they think they can never be together - because of the age difference, or the power difference, or because Leto would never approve. And it'd be understandable if Leto was suspicious - but maybe Duncan could convince him that he'd never hurt or unduly influence Paul, or Paul could convince Leto that his feelings for Duncan are strong and genuine?

I'm mainly looking for something set just before canon, or maybe early in the first film, once Duncan returns from the Fremen - before everything goes to shit on Arrakis. DNW underage, but Paul's age is ambiguous, so I will happily assume he's over 18 at this point. But as he's still young, and there don't seem to be any people his own age around Castle Caladan, I can see Paul still being a virgin. And I'm fine with Paul having had a crush on Duncan before he turned 18, but please don't have Duncan thinking of Paul that way before he's an adult. Other than that, feel free to delve into the age difference as much as you want.

Happy for either/both of them to be afflicted! I can see Duncan hiding his feelings to protect Paul, or Paul hiding them to not pressure Duncan - or Paul hiding his hanahaki entirely in fear of his mother trying to use the Voice to make Duncan love him just to cure him. Or either/both hiding it because (they believe) they can't be together.

Doric/Xenk Yendar

We don't really get any focused moments between these two in the film, but Doric actually seems like the least hostile to Xenk from the beginning - ironic considering her stance on humans started as "hateful and selfish" and "just can't help but lie"... but then Xenk and his ridiculous paladin goodness are so obviously the opposite of that! If Xenk joined the party for further adventures, I like to imagine they'd become good friends, and then fall in love (maybe after mutually pining).

I love Doric's combination of a sharp tongue with her moral integrity and intense environmental concern, and how that contrasts and blends with Xenk's stern intensity, his awkward ways, and his own intense sense of justice and goodness. They're both visibly outsiders in ways the others aren't, so maybe they would have a natural understanding - or they'd bond over the angst of losing their families because of it. And between their outsider status and Xenk's sense of duty, I tend to imagine they're both virgins.

(Please don't mention Simon and Doric breaking up. I'd rather you give them an open relationship, make it an AU where they were never into each other, or just ignore that ship altogether.)

Some of the tags are specifically with Xenk in mind, but I'm happy for either/both to be afflicted.

Edgin Darvis/Xenk Yendar

These two have such a great dynamic. I love their banter and how they spark with each other - Xenk and his literal mind bouncing off Edgin's usual wordplay, still prompting smiles in each other, even as they clash over Edgin's thievery and Xenk's paladin ways. That contrast somehow settles to a comfortable blend, with Edgin reluctant for Xenk to leave. And I love how touchyfeely they are - Edgin in general, and Xenk with all his (offers of) handholding... Pressing his hand to Edgin's on the Harper's seal, pulling him up after saving him, their earnest handshake as they prepare to part. So much touching! And so much banter! But they also challenge each other to grow, and I'd love to see how their relationship develops after the film, with a softer friendship blossoming into romance.

Despite his 20 minutes of screentime, Edgin's narrative arc is so bound up with Xenk. Edgin's been projecting this image of a cheerful, charming leader for so long, hiding his deep trauma over Zia with quips and songs. He's focused all of his pain into hating the Red Wizards, blaming Thayans for his loss - maybe because it's easier than blaming himself. But then he meets Xenk, a Thayan so noble and innocent that it shatters Edgin's foundation. And Edgin can't even console himself with the idea that anyone in his position would've been tempted by that gold - because again, Xenk is so pure and moral, and proves that people can be better. Even makes Edgin promise to be more than a common thief, reigniting his old Harper heroism. Xenk is the pivot point of Edgin's growth and healing.

Xenk's own angst is mostly implied, a subtext to the fascinating details we get. He's a paladin, a holy warrior, so strict in protecting others - but he's also a Thayan, a hated outsider, visibly marked by necromantic magic. I love the tension in him being both blessed and cursed. Does Xenk feel the need to be the perfect paladin to balance out the terrible opinions people have about Thayans? Once people have accepted his cursed nature, do they tend to place him on a pedestal, glorifying him as a legendary paladin instead? He glides away from the crowd's praise after saving that catbaby; his retort to Edgin's anti-Thayan sentiment is not to defend himself, but to speak of other Thayans, innocents turned into monsters. Does he think of himself as a monster? But Xenk is so kind and caring, risking himself to save Edgin - and so stern and serious, rigidly sticking to his moral framework. Does he feel bound by his duty, by his paladin vows - even to the point of repressing his own wants, needs and hopes? Does he feel he has to earn his own humanity, by so harshly rejecting his own partially undead nature, by being such a paragon of virtue? Does Xenk feel like he can't be less than perfect? Maybe his insistence that Edgin can be a better man is a reflection of Xenk's need to believe in his own goodness.

With all of those worries swirling around, these two could slip so deep into mutual pining. Maybe Xenk thinks he can't be with anyone because of his duty as a paladin, or because the Beckoning Death has left him cursed, partially undead, lacking part of his soul, etc. Maybe Edgin finds out Xenk is a virgin and assumes the guy isn't interested in sex at all. (I do headcanon Xenk as a virgin.) Or Edgin thinks Xenk's too noble and pure to want a criminal like him, or thinks Xenk wants someone more serious or more intellectual. Xenk thinking Edgin's too charming and sociable to want someone as awkward and unbending as him... I love the angsty possibilities of all this, the two of them keeping their feelings secret even as they're practically bursting with longing. And when combined with their touchyfeely natures - they must be torturing each other!

Edgin's lingering angst over Zia is fine. I'm open to both autistic Xenk and/or ADHD Edgin, or neurotypical depictions. I mainly see Xenk as being sworn to justice, as a general concept, rather than a specific god - but feel free to pick one, if it suits the themes of your work. (Like, Ilmater is a great choice if Xenk is suffering, whether in whump or in sexy painplay.) And feel free to include any or all of the party!

Some of the tags are specifically with Xenk in mind, but I'm happy for either/both to be afflicted.

Edgin Darvis/Zia Darvis/Xenk Yendar

I really like the idea of Edgin getting to be happy with Zia but also with Xenk, and Zia and Xenk being happy together too. So... AU where she never dies? Maybe Edgin stays a Harper and ends up working with Xenk, and they get closer, resulting in Xenk being drawn into the established marriage? Or Edgin and Zia successfully flee the Red Wizards with baby Kira, and Xenk vows to protect them? Edgin seemed a lot softer before Zia's death - and maybe less prone to hiding his feelings - and Zia seemed very sweet and understanding, and I'd love to see what kind of dynamic they develop with kind but serious Xenk.

Some of the tags are specifically with Xenk in mind, but I'm happy for any/multiple/all of them being afflicted.

Simon Aumar/Doric

I love how soft Simon gets around Doric and I'd love to see her showing a softer side to him in return. (I do love Doric's spikiness though.) And I love that over the course of the film, she was very interested every time Simon's competency was shown or discussed - she was always into him, she just had this one dealbreaker, and then he fixed it! (Well, maybe he didn't entirely fix it: I love Simon having more confidence, but it might be nice to see him struggle a little - with Doric encouraging him, now she's convinced of his capability.)

Both of them have angsty pasts: Doric as a tiefling rejected by her parents, who's visibly an outsider wherever she goes; Simon as a sorcerer trying to live up to his family's long legacy of wizardry. Plus, as a half-elf, wherever he was raised, he was probably too human for the elves and too elven for the humans. As they get to know each other better, it'd be great to see them open up to each other about these things.

I can definitely see Simon getting hanahaki after Doric's initial rejection - but maybe Doric develops hanahaki after that instead? Or it could be caused by Simon's self-esteem issues!

Simon Aumar/Xenk Yendar

In the film, Simon mostly seems to get on Xenk's nerves (being sarcastic! destroying the bridge!) but he's not doing it on purpose and I really think if they spent more time together they could become good friends - and then fall in love. Despite his initial jealousy, Simon is eager for Xenk to stay at the end. Under his sarcasm, his awkwardness, and his occasional sulkiness, Simon is rather sweet and kinda adorable. And once you see past his stern manner and paladin morals, Xenk is kind and actually sorta awkward too.

I like the idea that they're both a bit dorky, deeply interested in niche subjects, in a way none of the others understand. But I think they could find some common ground. But maybe Simon worries that Xenk doesn't like him, or doesn't respect him? And Xenk isn't great at social interaction, so he might not realise Simon feels that way, or might not know how to explain that he actually does care. I can see them both as virgins (due to Simon's awkwardness and Xenk's duty/angst) and maybe worries about intimacy would result in mutual pining.

(Please don't mention Simon and Doric breaking up. I'd rather you give them an open relationship, make it an AU where they were never into each other, or just ignore that ship altogether.)

Some of the tags are specifically with Xenk in mind, but I'm happy for either/both to be afflicted. Or it could be caused by Simon's self-esteem issues!

Theodore "Laurie" Laurence/Amy March

I already knew these two were endgame, but this was the first version of Little Women I consumed and it's basically the Laurie/Amy truther version, and the ship completely grabbed me. I have so many feelings about their arc: little Amy pining for her big sister's best friend, lonely Laurie slotting right into their family like a brother even as he pines for Jo... then Laurie and Amy reuniting in Europe as adults, with all those childhood years giving them such a comfortable rapport. Only now Amy is a clear-eyed woman dealing with the difficult questions of marriage, and Laurie's struggling with his heartbreak.

I love their gentle, awkward, prickly edging towards open affection - and I love that Amy is so determined to be practical, but still being swayed by her feelings. She's seen the best of Laurie and refuses to let him be his worst - after all, if she can live with unrequited love, why can't he? And I love that she refuses to surrender to her own girlish crush and accept his first flimsy suggestion of feelings - forcing them both to assess what they really want, and to come to each other afresh, in a moment of genuine emotion and honesty. And despite the loss of Beth, they seem so happy together! Laurie practically glows as he talks about Amy.

I'm fine with past Laurie/Jo as long as it was never consummated (although I got the impression in this film, it was more like Laurie had an unrequited crush, or wasn't really sure what kind of love he was feeling?). But you don't have to mention that ship at all, if you don't want to.

Some of these tags are aimed more at Laurie being the sufferer, some at Amy being the sufferer, some at either/both - happy with any of those options! (Obviously C is Jo here.) You could set this when they're grown up and falling in love in Europe, but some tags would also work when they're younger - as this is a canon relationship (and a low minimum exchange) I'm fine with pre-relationship here.

Theodore "Laurie" Laurence & Amy March & Beth March & Jo March & Meg March

I love big families, with all the complex intertwined relationships that result, and I love how Laurie blended into that. The girls are all so different but so similar at the same time, and I love the contrasts and parallels between them - like how they all have a creative outlet, but in different spheres. And I had so many feelings about them drawing lonely orphan Laurie into that, turning him into almost a brother figure. The March household seemed so cosy, always so full of homely activity and love - even when they were arguing. I definitely got the impression Laurie was pining to be part of their family - and to stay part of it as they grew up. And who could blame him? All the fun of putting on plays, going ice skating, secret meetings in the attic, matching keys for a private letterbox, celebrating Christmas together... And all four sisters seem fond of Laurie - even shy Beth was happy for Laurie to hug an arm around her when they were preparing to send Marmee to nurse their father.

I'd like all five of them to at least have a small appearance in the work, but you don't have to feature them all equally - it's fine to focus on just one or two. Laurie's unrequited crush on Jo and Amy's (currently) unrequited crush on Laurie are fine to include in the background, but please keep the focus on the sense of them as a group. And you're welcome to have Laurie's grandfather, Marmee, and/or Mr March etc appear as well!

I mainly picked these tags with Laurie as the one with hanahaki in mind, but I can also see it being one of the sisters - maybe Beth worries her shyness means she doesn't have a strong bond with Laurie?

Franklin "FDR" Foster/Tuck Hansen

I love these two and the dynamic they have: working smoothly together, protecting each other in danger, happily declaring their love for each other, bantering, hanging out. They're deeply competitive but deeply loyal, though there's also a fragility to their friendship. They're such different people - smooth, flirty FDR who hides his angsty past, and earnest, romantic Tuck who's longing for love but doesn't know how to find it - but they have such an easy rapport and genuinely like each other. (Except when they don't.)

When do their declarations of platonic love turn to romantic ones - and do they even notice that change happening? Maybe they mutually pine for a while, or maybe they're already casually having sex before they realise they have romantic feelings.

Being spies, they're required to do some dark things - killing, lying, stealing - and that puts them in a bubble together, both because they can't share those secrets and because others might not understand if they did. The fact that they were both so relaxed about surveilling Lauren (and each other) suggests they're not on the same page as most people - but they are on the same page as each other. I'm fine with you acknowledging that, as a "they're fucked up in the same way, and therefore perfect together" type thing, but you're also free to ignore that thread and keep it light - this canon isn't a serious examination of what espionage does to the soul, it's a fun comedy.

Happy for either/both of them to be afflicted!
